The LCA Uganda Livelihood cluster—led by Barbara Atukunda of @WezeshaImpact_ is running a dynamic entrepreneurship training for Self-Help Groups (VHTs, Para-social workers, and CHEWs) from Mukono, Wakiso, Entebbe, and the 5 divisions of Kampala.
Using the 2-Gen model, this initiative equips these crucial pillars of the local community with critical business skills in entrepreneurship and business development to transform livelihoods. 📈

Happening Now at KCCA Nakawa Division Hall!

Our ECCD Cluster, led by Doreen Mirembe from Mukisa Foundation, is currently conducting an essential training on the Two-Generation (2-Gen) Approach to Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD).

To build a truly supportive ecosystem for Uganda’s youngest citizens, we have brought together a diverse group of frontline workers across key sectors:
Health: Nutrition officers and Village Health Teams (VHTs)
Protection: Para-social workers, probation officers, mother leads of approved homes, and the Police Child Protection Unit
Education: School inspectors, Centre Coordinating Tutors (CCTs), and heads of mapped ECCD centres
Livelihood: Community Development Officers (CDOs), youth officers, and agribusiness officers

These dedicated participants will cascade these vital skills directly into their communities—creating stronger families and brighter futures for young children.

As a proud member of LCA Uganda, Mukisa Foundation is honored to implement this initiative in close partnership with government agencies at all levels. This impactful activity is generously supported by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation.

Integrating Policy with Practice
During the Risk Matrix formulation, Agaba Robert, Head of Programs at Set Her Free @SetHerFree1, emphasized that a "zero-tolerance" policy is only effective when supported by clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). He noted that while policies set the standard, SOPs provide the essential roadmap for handling cases consistently and safely.
Furthermore, Robert advocated for a participatory approach to risk management, stating that controls are most effective when co-created with all staff. Involving the entire team ensures that mitigation strategies are informed by diverse perspectives and benefit from collective ownership.

Happening now; Inception meeting organized by the secretariat in partnership with @KCCAUG directorate of Gender, Community Service and Production to disseminate the mapping and profiling report in relation to the 2 Generational Model to Early Childhood Care & Development project. The meeting involves various divisional leadership from the 05 divisions of Kampala, Mukono and Wakiso to also agree on the project roll out plan. #Localization #Collaboration
