‘I want to be a player that young girls can look up to’
Four visa denials later - and having picked up a basketball just six years ago - Madina Okot has made history as the first Kenyan to be selected in the first round of the WNBA Draft, joining the Atlanta Dream.
@ChirchirLevi@rigathi Remember that bad governance will always painfully affect you and me. Never speak in support of any harassment against a Kenyan irrespective of their tribe.
@mangekimambi@LarryMadowo@CNN Some individuals in @meta have seriously been compromised. Corruption touching on a multinational company is really a dangerous habit.

The death of a one-month-old baby girl who was the victim of female genital mutilation (FGM) in The Gambia has sparked widespread outrage. Police say the child developed severe bleeding and died in hospital. Two women have been arrested. https://t.co/x2SW50ZfDc
We’ve issued a press statement in reaction to the charges and prosecution of three women in connection to the alleged tragic death of a 1 month old baby girl linked to FGM in The Gambia.
Read our full statement and stand with us to end FGM
A one-month-old girl in The Gambia has died after being subjected to FGM.
This is not culture or tradition — it is violence and a grave violation of human rights.
FGM kills an estimated 44,320 girls and young women every year — one every 12 minutes. In The Gambia, prevalence remains at 75–76%, with infants increasingly targeted to evade detection.
We demand justice for this child, full enforcement of the FGM ban, and global accountability for states failing to protect girls.
Silence makes more deaths inevitable. Action cannot wait!

We are heartbroken and outraged by the death of a 1-month-old in Wellingara after #FGM. This cruelty must end. FGM is banned because it kills. No tradition is worth a child’s life. Silence is complicity. We demand justice! End FGM now! #ProtectGirls#EndFGM
Ruto donates 20M to a church while some public school latrines looks like this. Some students are learning under a shade.
20M will build full and equip a modern school.
There is no problem with the law, neither is there a problem with the constitution.
The main problem we have in this country are the human beings who are not ready to implement the set rules.
