Reconciliation With God
6/6/26

“And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;”
(2 Corinthians 5:18)

There was a time when we were separated from God, not because He moved away from us, but because sin built a wall between us and Him. Left to ourselves, we could never climb over that wall or tear it down. Yet God, in His mercy, did not wait for us to find our way back. He took the first step. Through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God made a way for enemies to become children and rebels to become family.
Reconciliation is more than forgiveness. Forgiveness removes the debt, but reconciliation restores the relationship. God doesn’t merely pardon the sinner and send him on his way; He welcomes him into His presence. The cross is God’s declaration that He desires fellowship with those who have been far from Him.
It’s a little like a child who has wandered away from home. The child may be dirty, tired, and ashamed, but when he returns, a loving father throws open the door and says, “Come in.” That’s what God has done for us through Christ. We don’t earn our way back. We come because He has already made the way.
Today, if you know Christ, rejoice that you are no longer an enemy of God but a friend and child of God. The relationship has been restored. The door is open. The welcome is genuine.
