My thoughts on making WhatsApp's username feature more privacy-proof:
- WhatsApp should make the messaging key mandatory before anyone can contact you using a username.
- The current 4-digit numeric key isn't enough. It should be expanded to 6 or 8 characters and support both letters and numbers.
- Usernames should only be for messaging. Voice and video calls shouldn't be allowed through usernames.
These changes would give users much better privacy and control over who can reach them.
