I think the problem with a sensible immigration policy is that the obvious solutions are potentially too simple. There are really only two questions.
Who? and How many? 1/10
Why am I just seeing this now? This might be the greatest MLB X account interaction. A lot of screenshots but definitely worth your time. Follow along in the thread below because this might be the best thing you’ll see on here all week.
I wonder if these two are married or still together.
Unfortunately, to keep up with CPI, this figure would have needed to get to $199k.
This means gross income per household has fallen nearly 10% in real terms over the period...
In 2019-20 the average gross household income for working households was already $153,000 per year.
In 2025-26 it is likely to be closer to $180,000 per year.
@TMFScottP@TheRealDavey2 The Treasurer himself is admitting to lying, so there's that.
I'm pretty sure "We changed our position" is as direct a translation from a politician as you'll ever get to "I lied"...
Discussing policy with an ideologue will get you that Dan.
Anyone who owns anything more than their home is a robber-baron who should be taxed to the hilt because the Government spends it so well...
On the plus side, this policy will likely help housing affordability. But I doubt tanking the economy was the path to that most had in mind...
It's very simple, on Economic freedom (things like starting a business, importing/exporting), Singapore rates very highly.
On personal freedom, it's down around 80th because of state over reach.
All those indices of economic freedom are absolute nonsense.
How is Singapore the world's "freest economy"?
The state takes 37% of your income into the CPF in addition to tax, builds and owns most houses, plus dictates which races live in which housing projects, and owns the ports, airport, airline, trains, utilities, infrastructure, and some banks.
Is that what a country should do to become free?
I'm imagining @normmacdonald on this guy "he says the worst part is the media interest", "wrong", "I think it's all the sex with people other than his Wife"
“they would very much like to try to rip [our marriage] apart”
bro, you have a profile on a perverted hook up app and you’re sexting up to a dozen other women
this is 100% on you
It's wild that in such a competitive sport more haven't attempted this.
Apparently Wilt Chamberlain improved his free-throw scoring by ~20% using it, and one of Barry's teammates greatly improved their results, but didn't stick with it.
Rick Barry hit 90% of his free throws during his NBA career shooting “granny style” and nobody else has committed to it in the almost 50 years since. I find that insane.
This is absolutely the way.
A full, line item by line item review of Government expenditures, ranking them by importance.
Always first cut spending before putting your hands in citizens pockets.
If we could shrink Federal Government to the share of GDP that it was 20 years ago we could save $100 Billion a year.
Obviously one can argue at the margins here but the point is a pretty clear one.
This doesn’t include State Governments, which I suspect in some cases (Victoria) are even worse in terms of expansion.
We need a purge of government.
Russia’s war of aggression has crossed yet another line.
A Russian drone incursion struck a densely populated area in Romania, injuring civilians.
On EU territory.
We stand in full solidarity with Romania and its people.
As we continue strengthening our security and deterrence, especially on our Eastern border, we will keep increasing the pressure on Russia.
We are preparing a 21st package of sanctions.
Sai is onto something here. It's a non-stop chorus of folks complaining that there's too many high-skilled, uber talented immigrants...
It's the main complaint we hear every day in Australia.
Every day, we're trapped in the paradox of the "Schrödinger’s immigrant", a mythical outsider who exists simultaneously as a lazy welfare dependent & an unstoppable machine taking all the jobs(both skilled & unskilled).
The immigrant remains a highly convenient shape shifting scapegoat designed to explain away ALL complex, systemic domestic failures.
Keeping this paradox alive ensures politicians never have to answer for a decade of chronic underinvestment, flatlining productivity, & broken infrastructure.
