It’s a game literally NO ONE asked for.
And all of those gameplay improvements in this could’ve been used on a proper GOW game. Not a spin off for a character no one cares about.
The god of war developers should have gone the route of making her a bombshell just like the developers of stellar blade did with Eve.
Instead we get a 45 year old soccer mom, with an overly cooked cinematic combat gameplay that looks pretty similar to every other cinematic games.
Stellar blade had the highest concurrent players for any PS5 exclusive ported to PC, and sold a record breaking amount for a new IP.
People just don't want to play as foids and other games taking the same route with middle aged women failed to reach expectations like Ghost of Yotei. It was so bad they cancelled the PC port.
No male gamer is gonna have a power fantasy of playing a mom with magic and swords. They wanna play a hyper idealized sexy hero with magic and swords.

As of now, 223k likes to 108k dislikes ~ 30+% dislikes.
The "expectations" here are that God of War Laufey will sell 10-15 million copies, in line with previous GoW games. Anything short of that misses expectations.
In recent coverage from other news sources, they frame God of War Laufey as a 200 million dollar gamble, indicating that the cost aligns with previous GoW games. Analysts are saying that the game could cost as much as 300+ million dollars or higher when all costs from marketing, QA, and production pipeline are included.
Compared to that, Ghost of Yotei's reveal trailer dislike ratio was much milder at only ~9%. It failed to meet commercial expectations, so much so that the PC port was cancelled despite it being almost completed.
GoW: Laufey will likely follow a similar pattern. Millions of copies will sell, but will fail to meet the high bar of expectations set by the previous games.
I really do not see this game selling 10 million copies when only a handful of industry shills are defending the game.
