@KalamCenter Sorry but it was Mumbai. Extreme population concentration, very small houses for the price, commute in trains a nightmare, crazy rains and many societies didn't even allow bachelors (those days). Absolutely horrible experience overall.

Communists have no place in Tamil Nadu’s politics. They celebrate poverty and prefer to keep our cities ugly.

The state government must be firm, especially on urban planning and rebuilding civic infrastructure. No one should be allowed to occupy footpaths.

Over time, we can implement many best practices by learning from countries like Singapore and Japan.

These countries also have street side shops, but they are licensed, organised, and well regulated. They do not hinder pedestrian movement or traffic.

@dmuthuk Hindu religious places are maintained very badly - and most of the garbage problem is because of low civic-sense pilgrims.

I hope there is a push for change.

Bureaucrats with crores of black money won't mind paying ₹160 per litre for Normal Petrol, so it is effectively reserved for them now.
Meanwhile, honest citizens are forced to use E20 / E100. If E20 has no issues, why is normal petrol still being sold? Is it meant only for VIPs?

I travel across Europe by trains. People mind their business, read books, or the ones listening to music have their headphones on. Once in a while all you can hear is an infant crying.

I'm right now in a Vande Bharat train. Literally 30% passengers are watching YouTube or insta reels on their speaker phones. Ringtones so loud that even the next coach can hear it. People screaming and not actually talking.

Why can't we a little bit more civic, a bit more civilized. Why can't we understand that somebody's entertainment can be a nuisance for others. Same behaviour we carry abroad and then get called out.

When will we learn????

Roads either side of stretch are extremely narrow, damaged, heavily encroached. All localities around look like 3rd world hellholes while MTP road is high tax generating.

Many areas are outside GCC limits and garbage is overflowing.

Met a big electrical contractor who has to bribe for getting a state govt contract, he has to BRIBE even in the private sector companies, had to bribe a bank to get his limits enhanced, and has to bribe regularly for collecting his money.

Creating opportunities for people to work and earn which leads to higher growth in Per Capita Income
Remember Sri Lanka almost went bankrupt post COVID but bounced back sharply.

In India it's all about Free Money distribution via Ladli kind of schemes or PLI distribution to low value addition industries.

Don't expect any rapid changes anytime soon.
