Wild carnivores typically consume prey in this order:
1.Abdominal organs
2.Other organs (liver, lungs, heart)
3.Muscle meat
4. Skin, connective tissues, and bones
This pattern ensures they obtain a balanced nutrient profile from the prey.
It’s not that lions avoid meat. They absolutely consume large amounts of muscle meat later.
But if they only ate muscle, they would eventually develop nutrient deficiencies, similar to how domestic cats develop problems if fed only lean meat without organ supplementation.
