Adam Gurr, a farmer in Manitoba, uses controlled traffic farming practices to reduce soil compaction in his farm fields. Shown: a large tractor following specific paths in the field to lay down seed, w tire tracks of the tractor btwn crop rows. Learn more: https://t.co/iu6U46IbKw
Day 2, farm 1 of @CanolaGrowers#ResearchCamp… Adam and Stephen of @Agritruth at Rapid City, MB show us their Bilberry optical spray system and Agrifac sprayer. Cool application: using green on brown setting for real time on-off fungicide on #canola. See ground, doesn’t spray.
@cdnagro And if you want to see some "new" data that supports the "old" observations that crops yield best with a combination of P fertility and P fertilizer (plus benefits of VR), see Adam Gurr's (Agritruth Research) supplemental P study for 2018-2022 near Brandon MB

For anyone still running bin fans, make sure to check them in this high humidity. This is 48hrs of running and over an inch of frost on them. #agchat#mbag
@OOrsak@danbai30 We use the Notes app that comes with iPhone as they are shareable, free and easy to use. Anyone can make a service or task list that is editable by others and can be checked off when job is done. We use it for equipment maintenance and other farm tasks and it seems to work well.
Controlled traffic farming is proving its worth, say advocates: “I think where CTF really shines for us is in a season like this, where it’s too wet,” says Adam Gurr

@fielddirt No need for me to rejoin the working class :) ... great to hear about Maryse's research ... and Adam Gurr @GurrAdam@Agritruth has also been measuring some large responses to supplemental deep banded P near Brandon in fully replicated on-farm trials
Seeding some Pinto beans green into our long-term cover crop plots. A wet spring and delayed seeding has meant for some pretty impressive cereal rye growth! #mbag#plant22#cdnag
@rpbrunel@GurrAdam We had a slight yield penalty a few years back in a dry spring and that was with an early termination as well, so rye wasn’t very advanced relative to this year.
The saturated conditions in Manitoba allow us to conduct import research in partnership with @Agritruth We’re looking at trafficability in high moisture conditions and the impact of tracks or low ground pressure tires on compaction and subsequent yields in wheat. #CdnAg#Plant22
@Joe_Widdup@HenryW_AAFC@Agritruth This is the first spring that we’ll have snowmelt data. P fertilizer placement (band v. broadcast), source (MAP v. struvite), and rate (build v. maintenance) went on Spring, 2021. Just north of Brandon, Newdale soil.
