Meet the hairy big-eyed bat (Chiroderma villosum), one of the amazing phyllostomid bats we found in the #ECOCACAO agroforests 🦇🌳🍫

Although many phyllostomids are great seed dispersers, this is not the most effective one, as they chew the seeds to benefit from their nutrients

🪲Our arthropod research has unveiled more than 500 insect species (including 50+🐜)
and 106 🕷-species!
But that's not all: 🧬 We've also built a DNA database for 319 arthropod species on all farms!

25 bat species have been recorded, all with a keen appetite for arthropods! 🦟🍽️
We're analyzing their hunting buzzes 🎤📈 and try to get fecal samples for DNA studies of their prey.

Our last round of mist netting was successfully completed today in #ECOOLIVES!

After ~ 200 birds in the hand we gained a lot of experience and were stunned by the huge variability of each individual 🌟

Now happy to gain more sleep until the next round starts in Sep.! 😴
