Strepsipteran parasitization is a fascinating process, especially in terms of their unique lifestyle and reproductive strategy. The first-stage larvae, called "triungulins," are highly mobile and actively seek out hosts. They often wait on flowers to hitch a ride from pollinators like bees or wasps. Once they find a host, the larvae penetrate the wasp’s abdomen, likely taking advantage of the flexibility at the articulation points between the tergites (the dorsal plates of the abdomen). Inside the host, they draw nutrients from its blood (hemolymph). The larvae then molt and transform into soft-bodied, worm-like forms, losing the segmentation and appendages of their earlier stage. They become pale or translucent, blending into the host’s internal environment while continuing to feed on its hemolymph.
In most species, the female remains entirely inside the host, with only the hardened, sclerotized tip of her abdomen protruding. This allows for mating and, in some cases, the release of offspring, such as larvae or eggs, while the rest of her body remains safely within the host.
@gunsnrosesgirl3 Traditionally, Kopi Luwak from Asia (Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, etc.) was wild-collected, but due to high demand, many farms now keep civets in cages and force-feed them coffee cherries. This raises ethical concerns and affects the coffee's quality.

@gunsnrosesgirl3 Would you drink coffee made by a civet? ☕🐾
Kopi Luwak, d world’s most expensive coffee, comes from beans eaten & passed by civets! Their digestion naturally ferments the beans, making the brew smoother & less bitter. Price? Up to $600/lb! Ethical tip: Choose wild-collected 1s.

@chude__ This is so disturbing. Wild elephants deserve to be guided away gently rather than being harmed. Aren’t there safer, more humane ways to handle such situations? There must be a better way to coexist.

Freezing doesn’t kill all bacteria—it just puts them on pause! ❄️🦠 Once thawed, they wake up and multiply fast. Always thaw food in the fridge and cook it thoroughly! 🍽️🔥 #FoodSafety#StaySafe
🤔 | Can harmful bacteria survive freezing temperature❓
𝗬𝗘𝗦❗️
👉 Some harmful bacteria become inactive when frozen but once thawed, can become dangerous. So, thaw food in the fridge. Also cook thoroughly.

Healthy people and 🌎 depend on healthy wetlands.
While they cover only 6% of the Earth’s land surface, 40% of all plant and animal species live or breed in wetlands.
On today's #WorldWetlandsDay, here are 5️⃣ reasons why we must protect wetlands for our common future.
Happy #WorldWetlandsDay2025!
By conserving the world’s wetlands, we safeguard biodiversity, enhance climate resilience and secure critical ecosystem services that support human health, economic wellbeing and cultural heritage.
Because today and every day is #WorldWetlandsDay.
Every fraction of a degree of warming that can be prevented will soften the impacts of climate change.
To provide climate justice & preserve a liveable planet, all countries must cut greenhouse gas emissions & step up their national #ClimateAction plans. https://t.co/b8xUnM3n33
