@doctorow I have seen that you are suspicious of BlueSky, but they are now touting "Free Our Feeds", working to spread the AT protocol beyond themselves. Maybe worth it? https://t.co/U5wpOtXDgx
@Jeopardamy@aedison "Codify" means passed as a law by a legislature (at least in this context". Roe v. Wade was court-made law (of which "common law" is a part).
@SinineHarakas @RedAlertFlorida @mjs_DC A question though. If undocumented people are not subject to US jurisdiction and they murder a federal official, they cannot be prosecuted?
@mjs_DC I suspect what Trump will do is just deport them and let God sort them out. (That is, deport them and make them fight an exceedingly difficult process to get back in.)
@mjs_DC So, it's basically if we are invaded by (let's say) Russia, and a women Russian soldier gives birth during the invasion, that kid obviously doesn't have birthright citizenship. Therefore, because supposedly illegal immigrants are "invaders", they also don't have birthright citz.
@iamAtheistGirl That's the same logic as saying that "not all immigrants" are raping and killing us", so deport them all. For our own safety it has to be assumed it's ALL IMMIGRANTS. How are we supposed to know who the good ones are?
@Colonel_Myway What does this even mean? California (and states) do not pay federal income tax. Californians do pay federal income tax, but the state itself is not a middleman. People pay the money directly to the federal gov't.
@meiselasb I'm a retiree with a pension that is about 1/3 my income (SSA other 2/3). If they start penalizing that, I'll need to cut way back on expenses, which, if other retirees are in the same boat, says recession to me.
@joshtpm@TPM I don't think it matters. Trump orders his minions to do something so they do it, regardless of whether it is legal to do so. And pardons them if necessary.
