NPA Signs Partnership Charter to Co-Host Africa Regional Conference of the International Association of Strategy Professionals (IASP)

The National Planning Authority (NPA) has today signed a Partnership Charter with the Uganda Chapter of the International Association of Strategy Professionals (IASP) @IASP_Uganda to jointly host the IASP 2026 Africa Regional Conference, scheduled to take place in October this year.

The Charter was signed at the National Planning Authority offices in Kampala by Dr Joseph Muvawala the Executive Director of the NPA, and Mr. Innocent Agaba, the President of IASP-Uganda Chapter, marking a significant milestone in the collaboration between Uganda's apex planning institution and the professional strategy community.

The signing ceremony reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to advancing strategic thinking, evidence-based planning, and professional excellence as key drivers of national and continental development.

Speaking at the signing, Dr Muvawala emphasised that the conference must serve as a platform to champion transformative development approaches. "This conference should emphasise accelerated growth that will eventually lead to inclusive growth across all spheres of the economy." Dr Muvawala added that there is need for deliberate, well-sequenced strategies that guarantee the benefits of economic progress reach every segment of society.

Mr Innocent Agaba of IASP welcomed the partnership, describing it as a timely opportunity to position Uganda as a base for strategy professionals across the continent and to strengthen the practice of strategic management in both the public and private sectors.

The Africa Regional Conference is expected to convene strategy professionals, policymakers, development partners, academics, and private sector leaders from across the continent to share knowledge, exchange best practices, and create partnerships that will support Africa's development agenda.

Through this Charter, the NPA and the Uganda Chapter of IASP reaffirm their obligation to promote sound strategic planning as a pillar for sustainable, accelerated, and inclusive socio-economic transformation.
