1. Introduction to AxonDAO

AxonDAO, a platform created by the Axon team, is an investment DAO focusing on the field of Dencetralized Science, or DeSci, with the intention of pioneering the future of health with Blockchain and AI.

Axon, founded in 2014 as a medical telecommunication start-up which provided mobile software solutions for hospitals and clinical research companies, has an established team with roots in scientific research - Note, both experience in scientific research and years of experience in the field!

Inspired by the transformative potential of blockchain technology, Axon embarked on a significant evolution in 2021, reinventing itself as a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO).

The foundation is built on the innovative use of precognitive algorithms, drawing from biometrics, genomic data, and other critical health indicators, to not only monitor but also predict health outcomes. Something that has been happening for years, but in a limited and centralized manner.

2. What is DeSci?

DeSci, short for Decentralized Science, is a relatively new narrative leveraging blockchain and Web3 technologies to revolutionize the research and scientific publication landscape.

By adopting open access, transparency, and collaborative efforts, DeSci aims to streamline the sharing of knowledge, enhance peer review processes, and improve funding distribution. Making it easier for scientists around the world to work together and share their discoveries.

3. The Vision

"AxonDAO envisions a world where medicine and science converge in real-time" - Improved accuracy, quality and accessibility, in real-time, for scientists and doctors all around the world. AxonDAO's mission is to democratize medical science through decentralization, a transition we've seen with DeFi, AI and now science!

The AxonDAO DeSci Platform is a DeSci system and global protocol which pays verified clinical trial participants and therapists in tokens for collecting biometric data. It will be the interface which gathers the large amount of data and this verified and tiered data be sold to established markets.

A key focus for the team is the development of medical breakthroughs whilst ensuring the anonymity of personal data, all of which is powered by immutable and trustless blockchain technology.

Here are some examples of the problems solved by AxonDAO:

➊ Sensitive Health data and ownership of that data through participation in AxonDAO. Individuals can choose to sell their valuable health and wellness data to the bidder of their choice, while Web3 and zero-knowledge (zK) technology keep data compliant with HIPAA regulatory mandates.

➋ It can be difficult to participate in health research. AxonDAO addresses these challenges by facilitating direct public engagement in health research, enabling individuals to contribute data and participate in studies without traditional barriers.

➌ Clinical research is often cumbersome, imprecise, complex, and tedious for everyone involved. AxonDAO offers a solution by streamlining the collection, storage, and verification of clinical data through blockchain technology.

Now, what is interesting is who is backing it, NVIDIA & Polygon, two huge names in the space!

4. The AxonDAO team

AxonDAO has a considerably large team when you factor in all their advisors and contributors, and for that reason I will focus on the core team members.

⇒ Christopher Crecelius (Founder): With a diverse career in private equity strategy, securities, design, business operations, and healthcare communications, has positioned him to lead the convergence of health science, big data, and decentralization.

⇒ Bob Crouch (Executive Member): Former COO, 30 years of experience building companies, due diligence, accounting, US Navy Nuclear Submarine Officer Veteran.

⇒ Randall Willard (Executive Member): ER Physician and medical director with over 20 years experience at four hospitals in NC & VA, Chairman 12 years at NHRMC.

Now, while not directly tied to the team, I wanted to discuss project backers, particular the connection highlighted by @niftyinvest here: https://t.co/N5Q52IGXkl.

AxonDAO x MedComet Fund form a partnership. MedComet Fund is under the guidance of a Jason Williams, the same Jason Williams who founded the investment firm Morgan Creek Capital and invested in Reddit some years ago. These are not small fish.

All in all, my personal view on this project is that it's very promising for DeSci, and opens up the opportunity to fairly transfer data, and ownership of data - A necessity if we want to advance in these fields.

The partnerships and backers are reputable and the tokenomics are reasonable for a DAO platform like this.

It's an interesting project, and I certainly intend to follow their progress over the coming months.
