BREAKING: Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) Aid Site in Southern Gaza Descends Into Chaos as U.S. and Israeli Forces Fire Shots

A newly established U.S.-backed aid distribution center in Tel al-Sultan, west of Rafah, collapsed Tuesday after Palestinians—starving and waiting for hours in the sun—rushed toward the site in search of food. Sources indicate that both U.S. private security contractors and Israeli forces fired warning shots as the situation escalated.

Photos released earlier in the day show Palestinians packed into metal enclosures at the site, where, according to local sources, they were held for hours in intense heat with no clear system for distributing food. The aid center is one of two launched Tuesday under a controversial U.S.-Israeli mechanism that bypasses UN agencies and has drawn criticism from Palestinians and humanitarian groups.

Key Details:

▪️ Ynet published two conflicting accounts:
  — One Israeli security source described the scene as a “Gazan mob” that entered a “sterile area,” saying American forces retreated and fired in the air, claiming “no goods were looted.”
  — But sources from the American company said the breach was “anticipated and rehearsed.” About 100 people entered late in the day, were allowed to take remaining supplies “to prevent loss of life,” and shots were fired in the air to disperse the crowd.

▪️ Another “Gaza-based source” told Ynet that American security guards “fled the scene” after the fence was pushed aside by Palestinians. An Israeli combat helicopter reportedly fired into the air to disperse the crowd. “All the shipments, tables, chairs—everything—was taken,” the source said.

▪️ Israeli Channel 12 also reported that IDF helicopters opened fire and that employees of the American company withdrew after the crowd “attacked the humanitarian equipment.”

▪️ Overcrowding and lack of organization led to scenes of desperation, a Palestinian source told Drop Site, describing the site as cage-like under armed control. Most had traveled at least 15 kilometers to reach the location, walking or on donkey-cart.

▪️ Earlier in the day, Israeli activists blocked aid trucks at Ashdod Port, opposing the transfer of humanitarian supplies into Gaza.
