Criticism of My Dancing by the Opposition Stems from Jealousy — They Cannot Dance – Adeleke
Dancing is my hobby, but it does not affect my job or my performance as Governor. Former Governor Oyetola is still angry that I defeated him. He is using the President and federal might to intimidate my supporters.
Gov. Ademola Adeleke, Governor of Osun State
What is the business of EFCC to be preemptively freezing of a whole state government’s account because they’re moving money? This is how they lose cases with reckless political undertones.
If not for the weaklings we have as Governors, EFCC should be challenged by all 36 of them
In the days of a Saraki or Amaechi led Governors Forum, 36 Attorneys-General would have filed at the courts asking whether EFCC has any reason at all to be in existence at this point.
You’re monitoring a state’s accounts and freezing it - as per feeding bottle federalism?? 🤣🤣
That Tinubu’s “all is fair in politics” deserves more commentary from political observers as it is lays the foundation for a “win by all means” mentality on politics.
Opposition parties should take note and act accordingly - 2027 should be won and lost in the field, no courts.
Those calling for a single candidate against Tinubu are right but I'm afraid it is too late tbh. You can't ask Amaechi to step down. He worked hard for the slot. You can't ask Kwankwaso to step aside, he has 2031 calculations already. Obi should never have left the coalition.
If there's such a thing as a Board of Directors of Nigeria Plc, Triple A would be a permanent member.
Lived and breathed power and influence, at the highest levels. But also showed impressive discretion and stealth.
Excerpts from a 2022 @daily_trust interview with him:
"[Queen Elizabeth] could not call me Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji, so she nicknamed me Triple A; and everybody started to call me that."
"I went to Bournemouth [College, UK] where schoolboys were calling me a monkey. They used to line the street when I was riding bicycle to school. I was the first black man to go to Bournemouth."
"Shehu Shagari was the Minister of Internal Affairs and I was staying in his house. When [Premier Ahmadu Bello] visited Lagos, I met Ribadu, who was the minister of defence and he said, “My pikin do you have a house?” I said I was still in Shagari’s boys’ quarters and he said, “See me in the office tomorrow.” The following day I went to his office and he told his soldiers to take a female police officer out of the house. He asked me to move in."
"Because I was about becoming a Permanent Secretary, I went to [President] Babangida and said I would not be a Director-General because I had so many Directors-General under me. So, about one week [later] he called me and said he wanted to appoint me as Minister of State and Economic Adviser. I was Minister of State for Budget and Planning and Economic Adviser to the President."
"In fact, I lent money to the IMF as Minister of Finance. I went to Washington, signed a loan agreement and I gave the IMF money."
"I was under pressure [as Finance Minister] because the Europeans trained me—both in Washington and in the Netherlands—to adjust the economy of Nigeria structurally, but Nigerians did not know."
"[Gowon] was the only [Nigerian Head of State] who had more money than he needed."
"[The late Sultan] Dasuki is the third child of the district head of Dogon Daji. My father was the first child, and [then] Sarkin Dogon Daji, who was a teacher, then Dasuki. When Dasuki became Sultan he appointed me as Sardauna."
"[Muhammadu] Buhari was my junior by far. I told you that I was in Form Six while he was in Form One."

It was Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, his own daughter, who publicly accused her father of being a liar, manipulator, hypocrite and of secretly pursuing a third-term agenda despite his public denials. Those were not the words of @atiku . They were the words of his own daughter in a letter that entered the public domain and has remained part of Nigeria's political history.

'In the letter, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo described her father as a liar, wife beater, manipulator, two-faced hypocrite, who orchestrated a third term plot in office despite denials to the contrary.'
@iyaboawokoya He organized a loan for IMF in the early 70s as well as the UK govt. He was a Giant amongst men,the last of a scholarly & enlightened breed that commanded great respect & admiration where ever they went around the world, the kind of respect you get from integrity not stealing
@iyaboawokoya Very privileged indeed. While schooling in the UK in the 1950s, he lived in the Royal palace. The “Triple A” was reportedly given to him by the Queen 😊
@iyaboawokoya Ma,Alhaji Alhaji epitomised power in every ramifications.
He was like the Caliphate himself.
He was respected and feared because of the aura of influence surrounding him.
He was large in size, which matched the power and authority he possessed.
His name sent shivers into me.
Those of us who know Triple A: (Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji) know how larger than life he was in service. I remember an anecdotal account of the World Bank having to send a private jet to pick him up to come to Washington to sign a document on behalf of Nigeria. I was not in any way close to the story, but it was told me by someone who was. Such was the aura and power of Triple A. May his soul rest in peace.
Atiku Abubakar and his Business Associates Funded Olusegun Obasanjo’s Presidential Campaign in 1999
After Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo was released from prison, he was completely broke. It was Atiku Abubakar, along with his business associates such as Peter Okocha, Cletus Ibeto, Chika Okafor, Sunday Afolabi, and others who funded Obasanjo’s 1999 presidential campaign. Additionally, Atiku brought his friends and Shehu Yar’Adua’s political structure into the campaign. He also brought the former Senate President of the 3rd Republic, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu, as campaign coordinator, and late Chief Tony Anenih as the South-South coordinator, among others he introduced to the campaign.
Peter Okocha “Obasanjo has brilliant ideas, the only thing is that he’s a leader with a small mind. He can chase you for the sin of your grandfather”.
