Strong El Niño conditions and a very wet Deyr forecast are raising flood risk across #Somalia. #FAO, through #FAOSWALIM, urges partners to use the lead time for preparedness, anticipatory action and protection of flood-prone communities.

With the support of generous donors, including the Dutch Government and the US Department of State, and in partnership with the @WorldFoodProgramme, @WVSomalia established a vital health facility providing essential services to communities displaced by conflict and drought.
As the drought intensifies, the need for accessible, quality healthcare has never been greater. This facility is delivering lifesaving support—ensuring that mothers receive the care they need and that children can recover from preventable and treatable illnesses.
Each day, the situation becomes more urgent. More children and mothers are falling ill, and facilities like this remain a critical lifeline for vulnerable families.
Continued support is essential to sustain and expand this work. Together, we can help ensure that communities facing extreme hardship receive the care and dignity they deserve
Here on the remote shores of the Gulf of Aden, in the community of Lughaya, World Vision continues to stand with #children and families in one of the hardest-to-reach areas in Somalia.
With support from @WFPSomalia and @unicefsomalia, we’re delivering lifesaving #nutrition to children suffering from moderate and severe malnutrition, despite the challenges of distance, drought and conflict.
Few organisations can operate this far out. But special thanks to the unwavering support of our private donors, we’ve been here for years, providing both emergency relief and long-term development.
🙏 Thank you for making this possible.

Yesterday, I had the privilege of joining the @MoH_Somalia and our partners in Mogadishu to officially launch the #WorldBreastfeedingWeek2025 in Somalia. The theme, “Prioritise Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems,” couldn’t be more timely.
At World Vision, we believe that every #child deserves the chance to grow up healthy and strong. This aligns with our #ENOUGH campaign, which is committed to ending hunger among #children. #Breastfeeding is one of the simplest, most powerful ways to make that possible. As I shared during the event, our commitment goes beyond advocacy; it’s action.
The gathering was a reminder of what’s possible when we come together with a shared purpose.

Happy Somali Independence Day! 🇸🇴
Honored to receive the Somali flag from Xayle, Minister of Planning of Galmudug State, on this special Day of the Flag. Grateful for the warm welcome from Minister Abdiwali, Minister of Health, and all Galmudug leaders during my visit.
Together, we celebrate our unity, freedom, and the bright future ahead for Somalia.

Once a student in Ethiopia, she now cooks, cleans and cares for her siblings in a displacement camp in Doolow, Somalia. Hunger has replaced learning. Her family fled drought, lost aid and returned to Somalia, only to find no food, no support and no future.
Marriage, not education, lies ahead.
This is not just a hunger crisis. It’s a child protection emergency.
Girls like Muslimo are being forced to grow up too fast, losing not just meals, but entire futures.
This #WorldRefugeeDay, we stand with displaced #children, and families. We call for their protection, #education and dignity.

During the Mogadishu Job Fair, I highlighted that technology is vital for skill development and essential in today’s job market. I urge our youth to embrace tech to boost their employment chances. It’s inspiring to see many TikTok users launching successful new businesses!
At Buulo-bacley food distribution point in Puntland, Somalia, families displaced by conflict and drought are registering for cash assistance, but this is more than just a handout.
With support from @WFPSomalia, World Vision is helping mothers and families take the first steps toward rebuilding their lives. Alongside cash support, they’re receiving training in: Savings group methodology, home gardening, nutrition and livelihood skills.
Starting over in a displacement camp is never easy. By combining nutrition, cash and livelihood support, we’re helping families move from crisis to stability, one step at a time.

@MackeyKev@WFPSomalia Sharing Mariam and Ahmed’s story shows how working together with @WFPSomalia and @WVSomalia is transforming lives by strengthening food security, nutrition, and livelihoods through resilience building and sustainable solutions in Somalia
@WVSomalia launched the ENOUGH Campaign & #SayEnough initiative to tackle child hunger & malnutrition. The event in #Mogadishu was attended by officials including Deputy PM @SalahJama . 2011 famine in Somalia was one of the deadliest, killing 250,000 half of whom were children.
