The 2025 Innovation Drive Ideathon is currently underway in Masvingo. Led by POTRAZ, this national initiative aims to identify and accelerate high-impact digital solutions developed by young Zimbabwean innovators. Following a national call for applications, 248 unique submissions were received from across all 10 provinces. A panel of independent experts evaluated the entries and the top 6 innovations in each of the five thematic areas; Public Service, Agriculture, Energy, Fintech and Tourism were shortlisted, resulting in 30 finalists. These finalists are now participating in a five-day, in-person innovation workshop where they are receiving business development training and competing for seed funding to support the implementation and scaling of their solutions.

The winner of the 2024 POTRAZ Innovation Expo is Activate Authenticity. The team is made up of two 15-year old learners from @PeterhouseGroup. Their concept is centred on AI Natural Languages Processing Solutions. Congratulations.

@Potraz_zw Director General Dr Machengete says in attending MWC24, the Authority was mainly interested in Cybersecurity, Network Efficiency and Connectivity solutions. The curtain has now come down on MWC24 after an insightful four days of exhibitions and meetings.
MNOs need to scale up to include 5G products and applications in their offerings says @potraz Vice Board Chair Mrs Viola CHASI who is attending the ongoing MWC24 in Barcelona. Mrs CHASI also stresses the need for regulation that ensures AI does more good than harm.
