It’s not really a win if you had to demean, diminish and dehumanize other people to get it!

Hey @grok who is the preferred candidate to win 2026 balloon D'or award

[Grok @grok]

Harry Kane is a leading preferred candidate for the 2026 Ballon d'Or on the strength of 73 goals and Bayern's domestic double, though Lamine Yamal has surged to betting favourite in recent markets after Spain's World Cup win. Voting closed late September; winner revealed 26 October in London.

I genuinely feel sorry for any player tasked with marking Fermín López when their team is pressing high and leaving space behind, it’s a total nightmare. This isn’t just about his pace; that’s only one piece of the puzzle.

Fermín is more than just fast. He’s a smart, calculating runner with exceptional spatial awareness. He notices gaps the instant they open, knows exactly when to exploit them, and times his runs with surgical precision. It’s not random sprinting, he reads the game, manipulates defenders, and makes you look foolish even if you’re a top-level player.

Just look at Tonali in the Newcastle game, completely hopeless, constantly losing him. That’s the kind of effect Fermín has: he doesn’t just beat you, he makes you look incompetent, amateurish, and completely lost.

🚨🎙️ OPINION: Barcelona fans never fail to surprise especially with how quickly narratives can turn against their own players in the race for impressions.

Yes, FC Barcelona are currently well-stocked in midfield, but it’s important to remember that every player brings a unique profile. Not long ago, during the first leg against Newcastle United, many were highlighting how much the team missed Frenkie de Jong.

Fast forward to a dominant 7–2 result, and suddenly the narrative shifts to suggest he’s no longer needed. That kind of reactionary thinking overlooks the bigger picture.

The reality is, depth is essential. Marc Bernal is still developing, while Frenkie is entering a crucial phase of his prime. Add to that players like Gavi and Marc Casadó, and it becomes clear competition within the squad is healthy.

Barcelona don’t need fewer options, they need strong internal competition to keep every player sharp and motivated.

By the way Marc Bernal is known for his scoring abilities netting over (250 goals in the academy), can even score free kicks, Frenkie is known for for ball holding and build up plays, trust me Hansi Flick is in charge and he knows his players well.
