I learned about a math concept called an ergodic system.

The simple version: in an ergodic system, what happens to one process over a long enough period tends to resemble the overall pattern of outcomes across many similar processes.

That doesn’t mean persistence guarantees success. But in sales, startups, fundraising, and other difficult pursuits, repeated attempts can increase your chances of finding a favorable outcome, especially when you learn, adapt, and keep going.

The odds of any single attempt succeeding may be small. But the probability of eventually finding a favorable outcome rises with repetition.

Most people stop before persistence has time to compound.
