Ok but the result is the same no matter what you want to call the upcharge. It’s possible to negotiate a lower price directly with the dealership outside of the Costco program that the dealer is unwilling to accept through the Costco program. So bottom line, Costco’s Auto program is a good deal if you’re a shitty negotiator.

The dealers pad the price by $1,500 for Costco’s finder fee. I negotiated a price directly with the dealer sitting next to someone buying the exact same car through the Costco Auto Program! When I brought up Costco pricing he told me that I could pay more if I wanted to do it through them. He showed me a copy of the invoice ngl. Now purchasing an extended warranty through Costco can save you a couple thousand so it’s worth doing that.
