Football isn’t just played on the pitch.
It’s priced.
Every match, every goal, every headline — the market reacts.
Most people watch football.
We study how it’s valued
Form, narratives, momentum, public emotion
they all move numbers.
Sometimes correctly. Sometimes excessively
@leonardnoch this is exactly the point we're trying to make and some fans keep throwing the "he's just 22" around like a medal
should the club be looking at his "high ceiling" till he turns 30?
@11synergy he has not regressed
he has not grown either
he has been stagnant for 3 seasons
that is the issue
I don't think anybody is saying he regressed
the only player that regressed in my opinion is Kounde
@NealGardner_ read between the lines
He is talking about the player's commitment
the mentality to give 100%
the will the improve
you can't watch Barca and tell me Balde hasn't been stagnant for at least 3 seasons
@aone1607 sheybi na high ceiling the club go chop?
what if the player is not showing any sign of wanting to improve?
should the club continue to look at his "high ceiling" till he turns 30?
@aone1607 2 seasons vs 4 seasons
and you guys should please stop throwing the age around like it is some kind of medal
the real issue is that Balde doesn't have the will to grow
he feels too comfortable
@PreciyIsi 2 seasons ago, people didn't trust Martin at first and he was an easy scape goat after every lose
but he kept working. I was particularly focused on him against Inter and the only time I blamed him was how he went down easy for that equalizer
didn't improve kuz he was moved
@PreciyIsi I can't believe what I'm reading😂
Martin had already started improving as an LB
he was spectacular against inter
his biggest flaw as a full back is his lack of pace - which is not entirely within his control
it is for this reason I'm sure, Hansi Flick moved him to CB
@PreciyIsi Balde's problem has never been whether he can run past his man
He's always been able to do that
The issue has always been
After running to the front, what do you do with the ball next
That is one of the basics expected of an FB
Without that, you're just doing tempo run
@PreciyIsi Isn't this like what he was known for since he joined?
Is that the major reason he was able to join "team of the season"
Balde's ability to carry the ball and beat his man with pace is like follow-come
So, no sir
That is not an improvement
@BarcaSpaces Which form exactly?
Yes, he can carry the ball and run with it
But after the temple run and you're at the other end of the pitch, what happens?
That's the main problem with Balde
Any FB with pace can carry the ball
But without end product, it is useless
I'm the first person to agree that Hansi Flick's system is like Kamikaze football - because he's trying to Force a system that he doesn't have the players for
But praying for his failure because of Balde?
That's beyond worrying
@GracefiedKizzo The argument is whether or not the player is offering much to the team developing
So, are you saying Gavi suffers the same stagnation as Balde?
Gavi has had a terrible injury and even then, still offers more than Blade
So no, they're not the same
No fanbase is half as emotionally attached to their academy players than Barca fans
La Masia is arguably the best football academy in the World. but not all academy products can stay and play in the club
some of them are just not good enough
@GracefiedKizzo@FCBJoeyy you're the one complaining that a player that has stopped developing is being sold
but I'm the one that is emotional?
interesting stuff
@David62939004@JayJoydamola@PreciyIsi I'm not a big fan of fan-based player rankings
I never considered Balde an top level left back
he's fast and can run with the ball, yes. but the end product has always been suspect
similar problem I had with Almed Musa back in the day
even in 24/25, I'd pick cucurela over him
