Exciting News and I need Y'all's HELP!

Just had a tremendous meeting with Mayor Rickenmann. He truly understands and loves Columbia, and he thinks our plan to restore the ballpark is spot on. He suggested that our first step should be a grassroots effort, and he's asked me to prepare an unsolicited proposal.

What I need from all of you is a letter of support for #SaveCapitalCityStadium. Please write from the heart and in your own words. Feel free to express your passion for saving "The Cap" however you like. Also, encourage everyone you know who shares our enthusiasm to write a letter as well.

You can post your letter on our Facebook group Save Capital City Stadium and I prefer public posts to maintain transparency, but if someone isn't on Facebook, they can email their letter to [email protected].

Let’s make this a reality! My goal is to gather hundreds of letters of support, so please spread the word and share the Facebook Group page with as many people as possible. Once we have all the letters, Mayor Rickenmann will present them to the City Council, and we'll secure a meeting.

Let’s get this done!

It's been far too long for Capital City Baseball Stadium to be left to deteriorate. This historic stadium, located in the historic Mill village of Olympia, is seen by thousands of people every day. It is both an eyesore and an embarrassment for visitors to our city. I have been patiently waiting for action from both a developer and the city, but enough is enough.

While Lexington County boasts numerous regulation baseball fields, Richland County and the city lack even one playable regulation field for our community. That's right—none! Our Richland American Legion team, which includes 100 kids from the downtown community, relies on the generosity of AC Flora & Ben Lippen to provide us baseball fields.

Capital City Stadium has the potential to host Legion Baseball, college teams, college summer teams, travel ball, outdoor concerts, and community events. I am eager to organize an effort to restore Capital City Stadium and would welcome any ideas on how to make this vision a reality. If nothing is going to be done on the site let's bring Capital City Stadium back to life for the Community & the boys of summer.

I really wish that every committed baseball player across the country would band together and commit to playing Legion ball after they commit. Personally I think it would be so much better for everyone involved. The level of Legion ball would climb so committed guys would still be playing against other good players. A ton of families out there would save thousands. And then on the travel circuit, it would literally be all uncommitted players playing against one another, which would make college recruiters' jobs much easier.
