ELT teacher, trainer, DoS, interested in all things ELT, with a growing interest in instructed SLA & TBLT. I run up hills and drink good single malt whisky.
@BBC6Music#NP6Music can you actually have a playlist to nature without including 1st movement of Beethoven ' s Pastoral Symphony? At 10 mins long, I dare you to play it. Come on! You can do it! Aidan in Leeds
Here comes a list of good quality and free open-access journals on English language teaching that I've compiled. I hope this list will be useful for English language teachers, especially those in underprivileged places. https://t.co/Mf6HfORXo7
@EltPaula Being Irish, I have a feckin' light accent. This is not acceptable! The good news is that the industry is changing. But very slowly in some parts of the world, I'm afraid.
@bealer81 Yeah, different to the Neil Young version but equally brilliant. They've combined a cover of Bright Eyes and Neil Young and made something unique. Glad you enjoyed it.
@tesolmatthew @ritchartwinson @NeilJMcCutcheon @timhampson@GeoffreyJordan@robtesh@sbrowntweets@sandymillin If you go close to the line you will almost inevitably occasionally cross it. Most people in ELT make a point of going nowhere near the line, with baleful consequences for the intellectual culture of ELT.
@sbrowntweets @NeilJMcCutcheon @CarterRhiannon @robtesh@sandymillin I agree wholeheartedly, but replace "producing educational materials" with "running a school" and it's not so black and white, for me at least.
@Vijay_Ramjattan Irish speaker of English: I choose not to pronounce the TH in most words. These days people find my accent charming, but in previous generations, many people perceived it a lack of education/intelligence.
@sandymillin @NeilJMcCutcheon Learning happens when...Ss have the chance to interact in the target language.
One thing teachers can do is β¦ Make sure that Ss have real reasons to communicate with each other
Something that has really helped me is β¦ being a S in a language class. #IATEFL2019
@Botanygeek Thai schoolkids used to tell me this when I lived there. I asked them how the monks who lived in forest temples were still alive. Discussion over.
