Earlier today, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu represented by the Hon Minister of Finance, @taiwooyedele, launched five Federal Government's Flagship Programmes in Abuja aimed at driving human capital development under the Renewed Hope administration.

The programs are listed below:

1. The Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus Additional Financing
2. ⁠The Solutions for Internally Displaced and Host Communities Program
3. ⁠The Human Capital, Opportunity for Prosperity and Equity(HOPE) Program which is subdivided into three;
- HOPE Geo-V; HOPE PHC; HOPE EDU

These programs are designed to ensure that every Nigerian gets to feel the impact of the booming economy through targeted investments in human capital, community resilience and economic empowerment as the nation seeks to build a $1trillion economy by 2030.

The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, highlighted the progress of the Federal Government's health sector reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that coordinated investments through the HOPE PHC Programme, Basic Health Care Provision Fund, Multi-Donor Trust Fund, and federal and state financing are delivering measurable improvements in primary healthcare, maternal and child health, and health system performance nationwide.

Key highlights:

- Over 3,000 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) revitalised to Level II, with about 1,000 more nearing completion.

- More than 43,000 women and newborns transported through the national emergency medical transport system.

- 78,400 health workers retrained to strengthen healthcare delivery.

- Primary healthcare visits increased to 45.5 million per quarter, up from less than 10 million in 2023.

- 251 secondary health facilities equipped with maternal and newborn health equipment across the country.

- Significant improvements recorded in institutional deliveries, antenatal care attendance (ANC4), pentavalent vaccine coverage, family planning uptake, and access to modern contraceptives.

- Reforms are anchored on data, accountability, and evidence-based performance, with the Federal Government working alongside states, local governments, and development partners to improve health outcomes nationwide.

Nigeria has adopted the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) e-passport verification system.

Major things to know:

- This will aid Nigerian electronic passports to be authenticated more seamlessly at border control points across ICAO Public Key Directory (PKD) member states

- ICAO Public Key Directory is a centralized platform that enables countries to securely exchange the digital certificates required to authenticate e-passports at border control points.

- Instead of relying on bilateral exchanges of passport verification data between individual countries, the ICAO PKD allows participating states to upload their own information and download that of other members through a single system.

- This development reinforces President Bola Tinubu’s administration commitment to strengthening the integrity of Nigeria’s travel documents by promoting global interoperability and enabling seamless border clearance for holders of Nigerian passports.

- The ICAO website shows that the PKD has more than 100 participants worldwide.

It is not going to be just a memorial place, the Centre is envisioned as a world-class destination dedicated to preserving the life, values and legacy of our boss, the late President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.

It will serve as a hub for historical documentation, research, leadership development, exhibitions and legacy preservation, while also providing modern facilities for events, learning and recreation.

Earlier today, Mr. John Ehidreme, 56, was arrested for illegally dumping refuse into a drainage channel at No. 18 Oluoga, Ikorodu.

The Lagos State Government reiterates that indiscriminate waste disposal is a violation of environmental laws, as it obstructs drainage channels, contributes to flooding, and poses significant public health and environmental risks.

Residents are urged to dispose of waste responsibly and use only approved waste management facilities.

- Pension assets increased by 51%, rising from ₦20.7 trillion to ₦31.48 trillion, creating ₦10.7 trillion in new retirement wealth in just two years.

- 938,229 new contributors enrolled into the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), expanding retirement security for more Nigerians.

- Pension Boost 1.0 increased aggregate monthly pension payments by 22%, from ₦12.2 billion to ₦14.9 billion.

- More than 195,000 pensioners from Treasury-funded MDAs who retired on or before 29 July 2024 now receive a ₦32,000 monthly consequential pension adjustment, ensuring retirees also benefit from the new national minimum wage.
