EDDY KENZO
One of @eddykenzoficial songs was played many times during the warm up here in Addis Ababa before the run.
I was being interviewed by the digital head of Great Ethopian run and I told her I knew the singer in person.
First she couldn’t believe it’s a song sung by an Ugandan, secondly she didn’t believe I knew the singer.
She told me it had been translated in one of the local languages here and it’s very popular.
Big up @eddykenzoficial

By 1879, Uganda 🇺🇬 was the only place in the world where C-section were performed to save both mother and baby.
European observers documented this practice, which used local tools, herbal anesthetics, & antiseptics.
We thank God for the gift of our beloved Diocese as we celebrate 60 years since its inception on 17.4.1966. Our Diamond Jubilee celebrations shall be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Rushoroza Cathedral.

1. Destination Promotion
Every community must compete with every other community for its share of the
world’s attention, customers, talent, and investment.
It must compete for its
share of the world’s businesses and its share of available capital and
investment.
Those communities that fail to compete will lose ground and be left
behind. To compete, people need to be aware of a community, have a positive
impression, and want to visit to experience the community and meet its people.
This is achieved through clearly developing, articulating, and managing the
community’s brand. Efforts must be made to promote, market, sell, and engage
potential visitors.
All of this must be reinforced again and again. Destination
organizations are uniquely positioned to do this. Addressing this need for destination
promotion benefits and enhances the well-being of every person in a community. It is
a common good.
It is an essential investment in developing opportunities and
building quality of life for all residents.
Supporting destination promotion and organizations focuses on tangible benefits like
economic growth, job creation, and tax revenue enhancement; broader appeals to
community development, global competitiveness, and quality of life improvements;
Think about this!
Uganda has 42000 square kilometers of fresh waters and makes an average only usd 130m from fish sales annually.
Egypt on the other hand has 6000 square kilometers of fresh waters but makes usd 2bn dollars from sale of fish.
Am not even going to talk about the value the Nile river contributes to Egypt from tourism compared to Uganda.
I know we are going to rush blaming leaders but these are also gotten from amongst us and they represent our aspirations through elections.
If you follow discussions on X for example, do you think the mindset is represented? You can tell where a country is going by simply following conversations of its citizens.
Just last week, I read about 3 major loans that were approved, one for Arua airport, another for Jinja express highway or SGR and an agricultural loan.
As we borrow, we must reflect deeply on how we can take advantage of what God has freely gifted to us like the simple example above.
We need a Critical mass of Ugandans who wake up daily thinking about stuff like I have written about above. Plus also doing something about it!
To many observe discussion is boring but it’s the most necessary discussion! and deep relationships with constituents. These arguments align with key politi

LORD MAYOR KAMPALA
Eng Balimwezo Ronald Nsubuga
Next week, I meet up with the current mayor of Kampala and our discussions will focus on 4 major reasons why Cities exist and those are.
Will be my first time to meet him!
1- Search for economic opportunities and therefore, cities must first focus on how the city economy thrives.
The Bible says pray for the city in which you live, when it prospers, you also prosper and yes, if the city doesn’t prosper, you don’t prosper.
2- search for good education, cities generally speaking host the best educational institutions because when its economy improves, the need for better education grows.
3- Good health, because of prosperity of the city obviously the city hosts the best health facilities. Poor environment don’t host good health facilities.
Good health depends on 3 pillars, good housing, good education and good nutrition and all depend on a good economy. Reason no poor is amongst the top 20 health nations.
4- Security, cities with great wealth intend to have better secure environments generally speaking. Wealth nations tend to invest better for their security than the poor ones.
I will invite the Lord Mayor to kasese and see how RWENZORI MARATHON is slowly transforming Kasese and see first hand what numbers of spenders mean for an economy.
The owner of TORONTO MARATHON has for example invited me for Toronto marathon and is going to organize a diner where the mayor of Toronto will be and would be happy to go with our mayor and sees how mayors position cities.
We shall discuss a marketing plan for Kampala city, would nice to hear Kenyans, Tanzanians, South Africans, Nigerians etc saying, we shall visit Kampala and spend our money there.
Places like Namungogo shouldn’t be places where activities happen only in the month of June. It should be attracting spenders throughout the year and we shall discuss how that works.
THIS THINKING SHOULD APPLY TO EVERY MAYOR AROUND THE COUNTRY AND YOU VOTERS MUST ENGAGE THEM.

4– @robwalkertv( ROB WALKER) has committed to commentating ( at no cost due to his love for UGANDA) along side MARTIN KEINO and our own @andrewkabuura.
SAD NEWS
5- We had agreed with DREAM TEAM TV( google them) who cover world majors( world top marathons) to do a 26 minutes which was going to reach between 500m to 1bn( not kidding) but how we handle info killed it and hopefully next year God willing.
They have work in the US first week of September and since we have been blacklist, they wouldn’t have the 21days required.
It was going to be Ugandas biggest move in PR. @robwalkertv had helped us achieve that. That’s how much @robwalkertv loves Uganda.

In Bugweri, the message was clear: leadership is not only about attending meetings or listening to speeches. It is about taking what has been learnt back to the people, organizing communities, improving production, building income, and connecting families to government programs that can change their lives.
Councillors and local leaders must demonstrate knowledge of income, the history of the country, the history of the party, and the discipline required to organize people around production. Without strong organization, honest leadership, and economic purpose, communities cannot grow.
Bugweri has land, farmers, rice, sugarcane, and people ready to work. The duty now is to aggregate production, connect it to factories and markets, and ensure that ordinary households earn better.
Leadership must not waste a day. It must build people.

UGANDA TOURISM
The last 6yrs have been hardest year for me in my tourism life and yes, we have had covid, Ebola but management of information has failed us!
Tourism had also attracted many young educated Ugandans and they were starting to see results, I mentor some so I know and more were coming board.
I don’t know about those that indirectly benefit from tourism who are so many and many of them don’t even know they do by the way.
It’s not about disease outbreaks, it’s just been how information has been handled, if you follow me, you can see the efforts i invest in and yes, many others do!
After 6yrs, this year the few accommodations have gone up to about 70% and within 2 days of announcement, we had moved from 70% to 30% and kept reducing.
Uganda already has very few accommodations but even the few, owners are struggling with loans and all sorts of bills across board.
Nothing has killed the entrepreneurs spirit especially in tourism like information handling by the ministry of health. And it’s more about how information is put out there!
No country succeeds with a dampened spirit of entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs make the economy and everything rotates around how the economy functions.
Me who knows about regional business and also understand our potential as a people and a country sometimes, it’s hard very hard.
Because of 2 planting seasons we casually say, oh we shall get over it. What keeps us backwards are things we can handle better according to me.
If don’t travel, you will never get to see even in our neighborhood how much business those guys do and you know what, they aren’t any better than us!
I interact with them, I can tell they aren’t any better than us. Many tell me, Amos you are operating in a small environment, you can do better elsewhere.
Then you ask yourself, who else will improve Uganda if am not one of them?
