The Chagos surrender is currently illegal.
But there is an issue. If you are a Civil Servant, you may be told, unlawfully, to comply with the Treaty
If you are a Civil Servant and a Minister is pressuring you to 'comply' with an illegal treaty. Then please reach out to me.
Dropped my son off at Reading Festival today, but not before having a conversation I desperately wish I didn't have to have with my child.
He's visibly White. He's Christian. And in the current climate, that can carry risks I never want him to have to think about.
So I had to talk to him about being aware of his surroundings. About trusting his instincts. About what to do if a brown person approaches him and sets an unattended backpack down in his victinity, or if a Sikh walks towards him while wearing a ceremonial kirpan or a group of 'youths' on scooters drive towards him.
I hate this. I hate that while other parents are worrying about whether their kids have enough money, sunscreen and phone battery, I'm having to talk to mine about the possibility of being targeted because he is visibly White.
He should just be going to a festival and enjoying being young.
That's it.
In 1922 the British Empire was larger than at any point in history. It extended to 24 percent of the total landmass of the whole world. At this time, the government had 300-350,000 civil servants. They had no computers, no electric typewriters, no calculators. Calculations that would take seconds today would take minutes or hours. Research that would take seconds today would take days and yet those 300-350,000 were able to do everything necessary to run a quarter of the planet. Today the British government employs 557,000 civil servants with computers and modern technology to run only Britain. I can’t help thinking that maybe we’re employing too many civil servants.
'It is worth remembering something that seems to be forgotten in the endless Sussex saga: Prince Harry served two tours in Afghanistan. I was in the Afghan theatre during his first tour and know that these were not comfortable postings behind a desk.
'He went into a combat zone and, like thousands of other young servicemen and women, put his life on the line for his comrades. That matters to us.'
@HamishDBG says Harry's return would be welcome if he comes back as a champion of those who serve and have served ⤵️

@AngryBootneck These clowns broadcast their crimes on TikTok, and still the police let them continue to their inevitable grizzly end.
A complete cluster fuck all round.
Amnesty International has truly lost the plot. It is promoting a so-called “Arday's law” which would to impose state-mandated limits on press coverage of one person. No doubt thru an Orwellian ‘Ministry of Truth.’ Truly totalitarian.
Defund @AmnestyUK.
