Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. - Ephesians 3:20 NLT #verseoftheday
@Flame314@ConcordiaSem You're doing awesome! One of the reasons I stopped after getting my Masters (rather than continuing on towards a PhD) was because I was scared of German 🤣😂
John 3:16 is one of the most well known verses in the Bible. Today we will see the context. Nicodemus has come to ask Jesus questions about God and Jesus has told him he must be born again to get to heaven. Nicodemus asked how and Jesus replied by being born of water & the Spirit.
In Chapter 3 vs 9 Nicodemus asks how is this possible? Jesus says that it’s spiritual, not physical. In vs 13 He says that the Son of Man has come down from heaven to explain these spiritual things.
Then Jesus tells Nicodemus something that had to sound crazy to him. He says this Son of Man will be lifted up on a pole so that everyone who believes in Him will have eternal life. While Nicodemus is processing this Jesus continues with the iconic vs 16.
“Because God loved the world so much He gave his Son so that everyone who believes in Him would not die but have eternal life.”
This is an amazing statement and vs 15 connects it to vs 14. This Son of Man would be lifted up on a pole. (We’ll have to keep this in mind as the story unfolds) Jesus finishes the discourse by saying that those who believe in this person will escape judgment but those who do not believe have already been judged because of their unbelief.
Well Nicodemus has come to ask Jesus questions and he has gotten his answers. Now the question is: Does he believe it and does he act on that belief? We’ll find out as the Apostle John continues to tell the story.
Christ is also the head of the church, which is His body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So He is first in everything. - Colossians 1:18 NLT #verseoftheday
If Jesus rose from the dead, then you have to accept all that he said; if he didn't rise from the dead, then why worry about any of what he said? The issue on which everything hangs is not whether or not you like his teaching but whether or not he rose from the dead.
