I’m taking this trade and I might DCA if Bitcoin comes down. I should’ve longed BTC at 91K so if I get a chance to DCA below 91K or even 89K region, I will do so.

I’m longing Bitcoin because I think it will pump within 48 hours, even though historically speaking, Black Friday has been a bearish day for the market. Let’s see what happens.

XCOPY: Send The Pain Below

There were 7,394 'MAX PAIN' editions.

There are 5,794 'MAX PAIN' editions.

The in-progress decline is due to the @XCOPYART 'DAMAGE CONTROL' collection. New artwork is valuable, and through it XCOPY shares that value with his collector base.

Today he tweeted "made a thing. minted it. anyone can do this." Here are a handful of simple principles at play:

Consistency
The 'DAMAGE CONTROL' collection launched in December, 2023 and has expanded since.

When an artist applies energy to something for a long enough time, enough to inspire collector conviction, it matters. The magnifying glass effect.

Patience
The pacing feels ideal with 7 new artworks created across 7 months, a tidy average of 1 artwork per month.

This prevents fatigue on one end of the spectrum and boredom on the other.

Simple In
How do you acquire a 'DAMAGE CONTROL' artwork? That's where 'MAX PAIN' comes in. 1-2 NFTs are burned in each transaction.

Limiting considerations encourages participation. You either have the NFT required or it is clear how to get it.

Simple Out
Each 'DAMAGE CONTROL' artwork received exists within the same collection.

This removes uncertainty and places collectors and appreciators on the same page. As the collection builds from 1 artwork to 7 and beyond, it encourages discussion, debate over favorites, aspirational set completion, and more.

Variability
There are subtle differences in mechanics. Today one artwork required a single 'MAX PAIN' and the other an additional 'DAMAGE CONTROL'.

This creates diversity and a range of values. It applies supply pressure to two separate collections over time and an air of mystery as to exactly how XCOPY will proceed.

Oxygen
Often 0.1 ETH is required in addition to the NFT being burned.

Extending a new collection pathway indefinitely into the future is effortful. If there is zero oxygen in, even the most dedicated/funded artist may pivot. This makes it more sustainable.

Closing Thoughts:
XCOPY has reduced a massive edition count by almost 2k editions - 22% - and that is no small feat!

The process feels thoughtful. There is no one better at keeping a finger on an ever-changing pulse, understanding the balance among artwork, mechanic, and marketplace, and acting accordingly.

Sure, XCOPY is XCOPY, but there are many useful lessons found in the above (and plenty beyond it). Hope you found something.
