Afroman reminds the world that you should be able to mock power without fear in this country, because we are a free people. @TheFIREorg exists because that's not always true in practice, but I’d like to thank @ogafroman for reminding Americans that he wasn’t just standing up for his own rights. The right to dissent belongs to us all.
@RIKKISCHLOTT Libertarians used to be the ones with integrity, but are seeming more like partisan hacks of late. Or they’re just getting drowned out by all the bootlickers flooding into libertarian circles
Where is the libertarian right? Surely masked agents of the government roving the streets and questionably shooting citizens is not really their thing.
It's important to draw my lines in the sand:
Things are, actually, pretty bad right now.
And Trump is, actually, doing much of what the "resistance libs" said he would.
It's not TDS to say so.
I've tried to put the threat into terms my more conservative readers might hear:
@Sanity__please@mattyglesias@bariweiss She has. Do you always make up things to be righteously angry about or do you actually do a bare minimum search before getting all huffy? https://t.co/eFBXhxWIBa
“The summer 2020 riots resulted in some 15 times more injured police officers, 30 times as many arrests, and estimated damages in dollar terms up to 1,300 times more costly than those of the Capitol riot. George Floyd rioters were found to have used more sophisticated and dangerous tactics than did the Capitol rioters, and in some cases weapons of greater lethality.” https://t.co/g76eP1Xibs
@mattyglesias In other news, a leftist was arrested with 200 explosives and an anti-Supreme Court/ICE manifesto outside an event for the Supreme Court Justices https://t.co/ZruoKwBcGo
"Because the proposed establishment is a departure from that generous policy, which, offering an Asylum to the persecuted and oppressed of every Nation and Religion, promised a lustre to our country, and an accession to the number of its citizens."
-James Madison, 1785
@LostHorizon20@avidseries That’s a good question. The article says the poll counted the answer as “creationist” if the respondent believes God created humans in their current form without evolving from other species.
@Baalzel@avidseries Will Storr made this point pretty well in his book The Unpersuadables in which he observed how groups of believers and skeptics come to their conclusions
@jjc_00000 @Timcast This is taken completely out of context from the article. The whole point of the article is to show that political murders are so few that tweaking a data point or 2 gives wildly different results. In one graph he kept 9/11 data in, in another he left took out Oklahoma
Republicans are not “Nazis.”
Democrats are not “evil.”
Democrats are not responsible for the murder of Charlie Kirk.
Republicans are not responsible for the murder of Melissa Hortman.
Opponents are not enemies. We’re Americans.
