A reminder that it DOES NOT MATTER if you hire more Black people if you don’t ALSO have the tools and culture to support them. They’ll either suffer through it until they find something better or, if they can, leave when they realize you care more about perception than people.

A very subtle way to lose innovation and gatekeep is to only hire internally or from one’s own direct circles.
So much innovation is thinking slightly differently, and paying attention to different perspectives.

My team has exhausted several avenues to retain a BSL interpreter for a pre-recorded interview for Mon., 5/20 at 10am-11am EST / 3pm-4pm UK.
Please let me know if you know folks who can do that day, or another day in May.

Just got back from a week-long overseas trip that I took purely to visit a friend whom I’ve known for more than four years but had never met in person. 😂
