As a backend developer, if asked - What is the difference between an API Gateway and a Load Balancer?

Cover these points:

1. What is a Load Balancer?

Imagine you have 3 copies of the same app running.

A Load Balancer sits in front and distributes user traffic evenly to all 3.

It makes sure no single app is overloaded.

If one app crashes, it skips that and sends traffic to the others.

Purpose: Distribute load across multiple same servers
Common in monolithic or replicated service setups

2. What is an API Gateway?

Now imagine you have different microservices:

/login → Login Service

/orders → Order Service

/cart → Cart Service

An API Gateway acts as a single entry point.

It checks the path and routes to the right service.

It also does authentication, logging, rate limits, etc.

Purpose: Route traffic to different services, add features
Common in microservice architecture

3. Can they be used together?

Yes!

You first hit the API Gateway

Then inside, it may use a Load Balancer to talk to multiple instances of one microservice.

संयुक्त किसान मोर्चा ने ऐलान किया है कि केंद्र सरकार की नीतियों के खिलाफ अगले तीन महीनों में देशभर में महापंचायतें आयोजित की जाएंगी और उसके बाद फरवरी में किसान दिल्ली की ओर कूच करेंगे. संगठन ने राष्ट्रीय कार्यकारिणी की बैठक में विभिन्न मांगों को लेकर आंदोलन की रणनीति बनाई.

संगठन ने एक बयान में कहा, बैठक में सरकार की किसान विरोधी नीतियों और किसानों की मांगों के बारे में जागरूक करने के लिए अगले तीन महीनों में देश भर में 20 महापंचायतें आयोजित करने का निर्णय लिया गया. उसके बाद 26 फरवरी, 2024 को दिल्ली कूच करने का फैसला लिया गया है.

किसानों की आठ मुख्य मांगें हैं, जिनमें एमएसपी पर फसलों की खरीद की गारंटी पर कानून, कर्जमाफी, बिजली का निजीकरण रोकना और 60 साल से अधिक की उम्र के किसानों को पेंशन देना शामिल है.

बयान के अनुसार, बैठक में सभी संगठनों ने सर्वसम्मति से राष्ट्रीय राजधानी में प्रदूषण के लिए "जानबूझकर" किसानों को जिम्मेदार ठहराने के लिए केंद्र और दिल्ली सरकार की निंदा करते हुए एक प्रस्ताव पारित किया.

Diwali is still far away, yet the AQI is already at 999. Nobody is taking action on this 999. All stakeholders are focused on just those two festival days.

I support a cracker ban in the NCR if it is accompanied by concrete steps to combat smog. They do nothing about crop burning, fail to ensure industrial smoke regulations are followed, neglect taking measures to reduce road dust, overlook vehicle emission norms, and disregard enforcing zero dust norms in the construction industry. But, they will come after you for even possessing a firecracker, let alone bursting one.
