As I stand today at the Bhima-Koregaon Vijay Stambh on Bhima–Koregaon Shaurya Divas, I bow in reverence to the enduring testament of our ancestors’ extraordinary victory against caste oppression, and reaffirm my resolve to fulfil Babasaheb’s vision.

In 1818, a force of just 500 soldiers —499 Mahars and 1 Matang, along with the Alutedar forces — defeated the Peshwa rulers at Bhima–Koregaon. This victory was not merely a battle of swords, it was for self-respect and human dignity. The victory announced, that dignity, equality, and self-respect could not be crushed forever.

When you visit the Vijay Stambh today and in the years to come, honour those brave soldiers and carry forward the memory of their unmatched valour, not as nostalgia alone, but as a living symbol of resistance and as the foundation of an independent Ambedkarite political aspiration, exactly as Babasaheb had envisioned.

This is the true New Year for Ambedkarite people — a renewal of courage, consciousness, and collective determination.
