Flydubai flight FZ1073 took off from Dubai to fly to Israel. There were around 180 people on board, and most of the passengers were Israelis.

After some time, while the aircraft was flying at cruising altitude, its altitude suddenly started changing.

The aircraft dropped by thousands of feet in seconds. For the passengers inside the cabin, it felt like the plane was suddenly losing control.

Because the aircraft was heading towards Israel and the situation initially looked like a possible hijacking, Israeli fighter jets were scrambled.

But the real danger was not outside the aircraft. It was happening inside the cockpit. The co-pilot attacked and stabbed Captain Smit Machchhar, an Indian national and the pilot of the flight.

Even though Smit Machchhar had been attacked and was seriously injured, he managed to reach the cockpit door and unlock it before collapsing.

That one action gave the passengers and other crew members a chance to enter the cockpit. People then rushed towards the cockpit.

The passengers physically restrained the attacking co-pilot and moved him away from the controls. At the same time, there were other pilots who were travelling as passengers. They helped the crew regain control of the aircraft.

The aircraft was eventually diverted to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, where it landed safely.

The co-pilot's name has not been publicly disclosed yet. It has only been reported that he is an Omani national.

Authorities are investigating what happened inside the cockpit, why the confrontation began, and exactly how the aircraft's controls were affected during the incident. They are also investigating whether it was a deliberate attempt to crash the aircraft and whether it was an act of terrorism.

An Indian man, Captain Smit Machchhar, helped prevent a major disaster and save hundreds of lives. He is seriously injured and is now in hospital. Praying for his speedy recovery.

Recently, a new Vande Bharat sleeper train was launched. On its very first journey, some passengers left waste scattered across a coach.

These passengers were neither illiterate nor poor. They could afford tickets for a premium train. Civic sense has nothing to do with money or education. It has everything to do with mindset.

We demand world-class facilities but behave in a third-class manner. When authorities see such repeated behaviour, they find excuses to stop properly maintaining public assets. Neglect then becomes a cycle, created by us and justified by the system.

We do not destroy public property because it is bad. We destroy it because we believe responsibility is always someone else's job. We want a developed country without developing ourselves.
