In a new update, the creators behind The Tyrant’s Chef confirmed that a second season is being actively prepared, but the drama can only proceed once Season 2 of the original novel Surviving as Yeonsangun’s Chef is completed. According to them, the novel’s Season 2 structure - its introduction, development, climax and conclusion - is already outlined, though many detailed plot points are still being refined. The team also revealed that the spinoff about how Lee Heon, the tyrant, travelled to the modern era is highly likely to become the opening narrative of the drama’s second season.

If Season 2 moves forward, the plan is to release the novel, the drama and the webtoon simultaneously, ensuring all versions follow the same core storyline. With significant story material still untold, the creators expressed confidence that Season 2 has “a lot to explore,” especially regarding Lee Heon’s time-travel mystery and the expanded plot direction shaping the new arc.
