And just like that, we have a brand! Huge shoutout to Lorrie Edwards and one of her art students Venessa for helping me design the lion. Venessa has been working tirelessly every free moment she had to finalize the design. And a huge shoutout to my outreach groups for helping me finalize the team seals today. Our first FTC qualifier match is on Saturday, so wish us luck!
On Friday, my vocational computer science class had the opportunity to take a field trip to one of our community partners and potential future employers, Blue Ridge Automation Inc. I can’t express how awesome it was getting to see a local company changing the world in profound ways and getting to see my EH and MV students interact with such an awesome group of people! A massive thanks to Megan Wallace, Chad Wallace, Benjamin Furlani, William Gibson, and Daniel Hicks for taking valuable time out of their day to spend with my students. From a tour of their facility in Pendleton to working through a mock scenario (complete with a fantastic name and logo), we will not soon forget our day at Blue Ridge.
I hope Blue Ridge and Mr. Amos’ class will be partners for a long time to come. 🙂

Aviation week in AP Physics was a blast!
We got to go to the National Museum of the US Air Force in Dayton, OH, and we had the privilege of having Tom Shores with us for an entire week. Tom is a veteran of the US Air Force and a retired commercial pilot who’s traveled in a variety of large commercial aircraft (like a Boeing 737) all over the world.
During his time with us, Tom worked with the kids teaching them how to fly on our EH flight simulators, he taught the physics of flight including hands on activities like the plane-building completion in the gym. He also invited us to meet the wonderful folks of Indy RC Modelers where we saw insanely cool RC planes, learned how to fly them on a simulator they had set up, and even got our first experience flying a real RC plane.
A huge thanks to Tom and Indy RC Modelers for volunteering their time! Thank you for making it an unforgettable week!
@CSC_EH
My vocational computer science students from both @CSC_EH and @mvcsc_district completed their first community outreach project this morning!
Thanks to Mr. Adam Eaton for entrusting your computer to our class! We were able to resolve each issue he was experiencing including some opperating system issues and some apps that were crashing. To make sure Mr. Eaton was more than happy with our service we also included a full technical report, a nice computer cleaning, over 30 Gb of freed space, and a chocolate bar. Thanks again Mr. Eaton, and great job to all of my students!
To anyone interested in taking the class next year: We learn coding and other computer science topics, we use the skills we learn in class to make our community better through community improvement projects, and ‼️we work with local companies to make sure you have plenty of opportunities within Hancock county and surrounding areas to get job placements. Both internships and careers that will pay for your degree will be available as opportunities for students who complete the course!
I was incredibly honored to join Esther Surburg last week at the MEC awards ceremony where she and Edric Miller were celebrated for their accomplishments both in and out of the classroom. Congratulations!

It’s been stinkin’ cold, but with a few gallons of hot chocolate and a bit of grit, we’ve continued to work outside all week. I‘m super proud of their progress so far! Our ticket taking stand is starting to look like a ticket taking stand. #EHRoyalPride
It’s passion project week at EH! I chose to do a construction project for the athletic department, where 11 young people get to work with the same men that I worked with in construction growing up. It was incredible watching them work like a well oiled machine.
@MrsHankinsClass Take a day, and forget the standards. Focus on the kids as interesting people who have interests outside of your class and focus on enjoying your job to the fullest. Let that be the top priority for a day.
Be humble. Be teachable. The universe is bigger than your view of the universe. There's always room for a new idea. Humility is necessary for growth. 🧠
“The task ahead seems daunting, but we won’t freeze in fear. We will lift our eyes and take a step, believing in our ability to learn and overcome. When problems materialize, we won’t get discouraged. We will focus on the problems only as guidelines for solutions in the making.”
I am proud to announce that EH now has a FIRST robotics team - the largest robotics team we’ve ever had! Our switch from VEX to FIRST brings added professionalism, engineering experiences, and scholarships to our students.
