7 DAYS TO A BAR THAT LISTENS.
A stronger Nigerian Bar Association begins with listening to its members. I envision an NBA where every lawyer has a voice, every branch is heard, and every member has a meaningful opportunity to shape the future of our profession.
True leadership starts by listening. It is the foundation of responsive, inclusive, and accountable governance, and the key to building an Association that truly works for everyone.
On 18 July, vote Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, FCIArb (UK), for President of the Nigerian Bar Association. Together, let us build A BOLDER BAR THAT WORKS FOR EVERYONE.
12 DAYS TO A MORE INCLUSIVE BAR.
I believe the Nigerian Bar Association is strongest when every lawyer matters, every voice is heard, and every Branch is valued. My vision is simple: an NBA that listens, responds, and creates opportunities for every member, regardless of age, gender, location, or area of practice.
Inclusion is about building systems that ensure no lawyer is left behind and every member has the opportunity to contribute, grow, and thrive. Together, we can build an Association that reflects the very values we defend every day, fairness, equity, respect, and justice.
On Saturday, 18 July 2026, Vote Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, FCIArb (UK), for President of the Nigerian Bar Association.
Together, let’s build A BOLDER BAR THAT WORKS FOR EVERYONE.

@Legal_hotkake The @NigBarAssoc is not a kingdom where leaders are crowned... anyone who is willing to lead should subject himself to the pool and not some sectional screening committee who should decide for the whole members of the Bar.
@Legal_hotkake The whole Bar is our constituency...not Egbe Amofin. None of the candidates is more Yoruba than the others. That process was very unnecessary.
When @MuyiwaAkinboro was elected the General secretary of the NBA was he the consensus candidate for Egbe Amofin?
@ChidiOdinkalu@NigBarAssoc@ChidiOdinkalu Dear Prof.,
YL will be interested in knowing the findings of your committee during that period. This will greatly influence our decision making process and enrich our knowledge of the bar, because history helps us to understand the present and predict the future.
The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) has officially published the List of Qualified Candidates for the 2026 NBA General Elections, and I am deeply honoured and grateful to be among those cleared to contest for the office of President of the Nigerian Bar Association.
I receive this development with humility, gratitude, and an even stronger sense of responsibility to the profession we all love and serve.
This journey has never been about one person. It has always been about the future of our profession and the shared belief that the Bar can be more inclusive, more responsive, more courageous, and more united.
Across the country, I have met colleagues who believe that every lawyer matters, that leadership must listen, and that the strength of our Association lies in the collective voice and participation of its members. Your support, encouragement, and belief in this vision continue to inspire me every day.
As we move forward, I remain committed to a Bar built on service, integrity, opportunity, and genuine engagement with lawyers at every level of practice.
The future of the Bar is not something we wait for, it is something we build together.
Now more than ever, it is time to rise together, lead together, and boldly shape the profession we all deserve.

WORLD PRESS FREEDOM DAY 2026.
Today, as we commemorate World Press Freedom Day, I join millions across the world in recognising the vital role of a free, independent, and responsible press in building peaceful, just, and progressive societies.
This year’s theme, “Shaping a Future at Peace,” is both timely and profound. Peace is not merely the absence of conflict; it is the presence of truth, justice, accountability, and informed dialogue. These are values that a vibrant press helps to uphold.
The media remains a powerful pillar of democracy, giving voice to the voiceless, holding institutions accountable, and fostering understanding in times of division. Journalists who courageously pursue truth, often at great personal risk, deserve our respect, protection, and support.
As members of the legal profession and as citizens, we must continue to defend freedom of expression, uphold the rule of law, and create an environment where the press can operate without fear or intimidation. A society where truth thrives is a society better positioned for peace.
On this World Press Freedom Day, I reaffirm my commitment to the ideals of justice, fairness, and liberty, and I celebrate all media practitioners whose work continues to shape a more peaceful future for generations to come.

This is phenomenal. What you have built did not happen by chance. Your journey reflects discipline, courage, and an admirable commitment to growth. This renovation and expansion is more than a physical upgrade. It is a BOLD statement. It is the visible proof of growth earned, of resilience, of structures built with intention, and of a journey walked with courage.
Congratulations on this milestone, counsel. May it bring you and your team even more impact and undeniable success. I am rooting for you, and I look forward to all that lies ahead.
CELEBRATING WOMEN WHO GIVE TO GAIN!
I will like to to salute the Honourable Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Motonmori Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun who embodies the #GiveToGain through decades of principled judicial service culminating in her elevation to the highest judicial position in the nation as Chief Justice of Nigeria.
By giving intellectual rigour, judicial courage, and unwavering fidelity to the rule of law, she has strengthened public confidence in the courts and deepened the integrity of Nigeria's justice sector.
Her ascent reflects a career built not on visibility alone but on consistent excellence, proving that when a jurist gives discipline, fairness, and institutional loyalty, the judiciary gains credibility, stability, and moral authority.

HONOURING MOTHERING SUNDAY.
Today, I celebrate Mothering Sunday, a day that carries a deep heritage of reflection, gratitude, and returning to our spiritual roots.
Historically, Mothering Sunday was the day people returned to their “Mother Church”, the place that nurtured their faith and community. Over time, it also became a moment to honour the women who nurture, guide, and care for us.
While Mother’s Day focuses on appreciating mothers, Mothering Sunday reminds us of something even broader, the spirit of nurturing itself.
So today we celebrate:
• Mothers
• Grandmothers
• Spiritual mothers
• Mentors and caregivers
• Every woman who has offered motherly love, wisdom and guidance.
To every nurturing heart, thank you for the quiet sacrifices, the prayers, the wisdom, and the love that shapes generations.
Happy Mothering Sunday.
May we continue to nurture one another with grace, compassion, and faith.

IN THE INTEREST OF THE PEOPLE: A SOLEMN CALL FOR UNDERSTANDING AND HARMONY.
I have followed with keen interest the concerns raised by the hardworking and dedicated members of the Law Officers Association of Nigeria (LOAN), Kano State Chapter. Law Officers serve at the very heart of the justice system, and the issues they have highlighted deserve careful and urgent attention.
I am aware that the Kano State Government, through the Honourable Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, engaged the leadership of LOAN prior to the declaration of the strike in an attempt to avert the situation. Such efforts are commendable and demonstrate a recognition of the importance of addressing these concerns through dialogue.
The role of Law Officers within the justice sector cannot be overstated. Their work is essential to the effective functioning of the justice system and ensuring that those entrusted with this responsibility are adequately supported and motivated is not only a matter of welfare but also one that directly impacts the efficiency, credibility and integrity of the administration of justice.
At the same time, the justice system remains a vital public institution that must continue to function in the interest of the people. Prolonged disruption inevitably affects governance, the courts, and the broader administration of justice, underscoring the importance of finding a prompt and sustainable resolution.
I commend the steps taken by the Kano State Government towards addressing the issues raised, as well as the intervention of the Kano and Ungogo Branches of the Nigerian Bar Association, whose commitment to constructive engagement reflects the true spirit of the Bar.
This moment calls for pragmatic engagement by all parties. Cooperation and constructive dialogue remain the surest path toward safeguarding the integrity of the justice system while advancing the legitimate interests of Law Officers and the broader public they serve.
I therefore respectfully appeal to both parties to resume meaningful discussions, guided by mutual respect and a genuine commitment to reaching a fair and lasting resolution. Our justice system must remain strong, functional, and worthy of public confidence.

I absolutely welcome this suggestion. In fact, a similar idea was raised by another lawyer last year and I publicly expressed my willingness to participate in such a conversation. My position has not changed. I remain very willing to engage.
A Twitter Space or any open forum where I can speak directly to young lawyers about remuneration, welfare, and the realities of practice is a good thing for our profession. Young lawyers deserve to hear clearly what I intend to do, and they deserve to ask questions about track record as well as my plans.
Conversations about issues like fair remuneration, welfare packages, health insurance, pension contributions, and workplace standards are timely and important. I am prepared to speak honestly about these matters and listen to the concerns of young lawyers.
