Separating Muhammad b. Abd al-Wahhab from Ibn Taymiyyah: A Smokescreen

Sapience is showing its true colours.

It no longer feels the need to conceal its hostility towards those who adhere to the Salafi creed, despite its repeated false claims of promoting unity.

Whether this shift is driven by financial backing from Sufi interests in Turkey and elsewhere, or simply the unmasking of Hamza Tzortzis’ corrupt positions, the outcome is the same.

إذا عُرِفَ السَّبَبُ بَطَلَ العَجَبُ

“Once the reason is known, there is no longer any cause for surprise.”

Historically, many of those who target Muhammad b. Abd al-Wahhab also target Ibn Taymiyyah. The issue is not their personalities, but the creed and methodology they championed.

One of the oldest tactics is to isolate and discredit influential figures who carried the same message. Once one is demonised, it becomes easier to attack the next. The real objective is not the individual, but the message they all shared.

The proof is plain. Hijab ridiculed the Salaf for their affirmation of Allah’s Attributes, yet praises individuals whose deviations in these very matters have been documented by numerous scholars, among them Ibn Taymiyyah.

The target is not merely certain scholars; it is the creed they represented.

New Jersey experienced an earthquake this morning. Although it was not destructive, feeling the building shake was a reminder of Allah’s might and power. Ibn al-Qayyim said, “When there were earthquakes, some of the Salaf said, 'Indeed, your Lord is calling upon you to repent.'” Seek forgiveness and repent in these last ten days of Ramadan. May Allah pardon us and grant us safety.

This is a common error made by many Muslims in the West.

A person must be sure his/her food is getting to the poor and not just being eaten in the masjid.

The same goes for zakatul fitr; it should be distributed to the poor and not merely left in the masjid for anyone to take.

Knowledge precedes speech and actions.

As a Muslim, before you type “Christ is King” know what the statement actually means and what it entails.

This is one of the problems with prominent figures who accept Islam; they fail to further study and learn the religion.

According to Catholics:

“Christ the King is one of the most important titles of Jesus. Even though Jesus Christ was not a king in the earthly sense, He is the divine King of the Universe, who unites all of creation with the Father.”

Jesus was a Messenger; he has no control over the universe.

Allah alone is the King (Al-Malik), and this is one of his beautiful names.

You cannot fight injustice with falsehood; it must be combatted with truth and justice.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Do not exaggerate concerning me like the Christians did about Jesus, the son of Mary. I am but a servant, so say, ‘The servant of Allah and His Messenger.’”
