Bismillahi Rahmani Rahiim;
I have arrived in Israel as the first President of the Republic of Somaliland to undertake a State Visit, and I am honoured by the warm welcome extended by my friend, President @Isaac_Herzog
For thirty-five years, the people of Somaliland have built a peaceful, democratic, and resilient nation. We asked the world: Do you see us? Israel answered first. Today marks a historic milestone in our journey and the beginning of a new chapter in the relationship between Somaliland and Israel.
To the people of Somaliland: I carry your hopes and aspirations with me. Generations have struggled, sacrificed, and persevered to bring our nation to this moment. We will seize this opportunity with confidence, wisdom, and determination, always guided by the interests of our people and our Republic.
Today, history is being written, and Somaliland stands ready to forge a shared future founded on friendship, cooperation, and mutual respect.

Recognizing Somaliland isn’t charity — it’s strategy. It aligns with America’s security interests and the “America First” doctrine by strengthening an ally that shares our values in a region vital to global trade and counterterrorism.

The Hypocrisy Olympics: Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan and the “State of Palestine” vs. Somaliland
Israel recognizes Somaliland.
Cue outrage from the usual suspects.
Let’s start with reality.
Somaliland has:
• Governed itself peacefully for over 30 years
• Held multiple democratic elections
• Maintained its own borders, institutions, currency, and security
• Met the classic Montevideo criteria for statehood far better than many UN members
Now let’s look at the critics.
This is a historic moment as we warmly welcome @netanyahu the Prime Minister of the State of Israel’s recognition of the Republic of Somaliland and affirm Somaliland’s readiness to join the Abraham Accords. This step marks the beginning of a strategic partnership that advances mutual interests, strengthens regional peace and security, and delivers shared benefits to all stakeholders, without prejudice to any party.
@IsraeliPM We thank the Government and people of Israel for recognizing the Republic of Somaliland. This historic step affirms our commitment to peace and democracy, and we look forward to strong bilateral relations.
I was glad to speak just now with the President of Somaliland Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, on this important day for both countries.
Over the past year, based on an extensive and ongoing dialogue, relations between Israel and Somaliland have taken shape. Following the decision of @IsraeliPM Benjamin Netanyahu and the President of Somaliland Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, today we signed an agreement on mutual recognition and the establishment of full diplomatic relations, which will include the appointment of ambassadors and the opening of embassies.
We will work together to promote the relations between our countries and nations, regional stability and economic prosperity. I have instructed my ministry to act immediately to institutionalize ties between the two countries across a wide range of fields.
Somaliland's 2025 budget was $556.3 million.
Somalia's 2025 budget was $1.32 billion.
Somaliland fully financed its November 2024 polls from its own domestic revenue. Over 10m USD. And pulled off one of the most remarkably open and democratic elections in Africa.
Somaliland even told foreign partners "No thank you, we can fund our elections."
That is the difference between a proud state that functions and is committed to democracy and one largely going round in circles...

Move could reshape Horn of Africa geopolitics and challenge decades of international policy.
