Sometime in 2024, Freepik acquired Magnific AI for image upscaling.
It didnt seem like anything at the time more than just another big-tech acquisition. Happens all the time. Right?
Well, not really. Magnific didnt just disappear into Freepik, It became one of the defining pieces of the platform.
If you've ever used Magnific, this makes sense. The quality jump it could create from an average image was honestly shocking.
Fast forward to 2026, Freepik announces a rebrand.
Not to a new invented name. They renamed the entire company: Magnific.
Think about that for a second.A company with millions of users and years of brand equity acquired a startup... Then decided the startup's brand better represented its future than its own.
That's one of the strongest compliments a product can receive.
I’m rewatching Attack on Titan for the 10th time and I’m still catching hidden clues, foreshadowing, and plot details I missed before.
This isn’t just one of the greatest anime ever made, it’s one of the greatest pieces of storytelling in entertainment history.
I envy people watching it for the first time. The chances of witnessing a story this perfectly planned and executed again feel incredibly rare.
I just finished speaking a few advisors on this business model that’s about to change the game for design in Nigeria and I’m grateful for the insights I received.
I’m sending this here because I guess it’s time to start building in public since I would be needed as much support as possible. This is the start of a thing that’s revolutionary. We go again next week.
Quoting my earlier tweet:
“If you’re building a wallet system and your source of truth is a balance column,
May the database gods be with you 😂”
Let’s talk about why this is dangerous and exactly how to design the tables properly.
I was today years old when I discovered @InvoiceRadar yesterday. Can't believe I haven't looked for something like this sooner. It's mind-numbingly boring to collect invoices every month to send to accounting. This makes it 50% less painful.
@SalakoIziaq Thank you, Honourable Minister, for officially opening @WHXLagos and for your continued support of healthcare innovation.
As builders in the health-tech ecosystem, we’re excited about the opportunities to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, digital health, and patient care across Nigeria.
At @hidirectoryhq, we’re building a platform that enables patients to have a persistent digital health identity while helping healthcare providers manage and access patient information more efficiently. Our vision is to reduce fragmented medical records and support more connected healthcare delivery across hospitals, laboratories, pharmacies, and outreach programs.
We would welcome the opportunity to contribute to ongoing conversations around digital health infrastructure and explore how solutions like HID can support the Ministry’s vision for a more connected and efficient healthcare system.

HID was live at WHX Lagos, showcasing how we're building solutions that strengthen healthcare delivery and connectivity.
I had a great time attending @whxlagos with my co-founder @flawedhurricane , meeting healthcare leaders, innovators, policymakers, providers, and organizations working to transform healthcare systems across the continent.
Some of the most exciting discussions centered on digital health, patient identity, healthcare infrastructure, interoperability, and what it will take to create truly connected healthcare experiences.
At HID @hidirectoryhq , we're building a healthcare infrastructure platform focused on Digital Health Identity, Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Laboratory Management, Pharmacy Management, and Medical Outreach solutions.
A big thank you to everyone we met, exchanged ideas with, and learned from throughout the event. The insights, perspectives, and connections we gained will play an important role in shaping the next phase of our journey.
We're excited to keep these conversations going and explore new opportunities for collaboration.

“Software engineers who don’t know how to use AI coding agents will fall behind.”
No.
AI coding agents are not the hard part of building software. They’re a simple tool. You can learn to use them in a few days.
The hard part is knowing what to ask for.
Knowing whether the answer is any good.
Knowing when the code is brittle, overcomplicated, insecure, or just plain wrong.
It’s the judgement required to use them well.
That’s software engineering. And that takes decades to learn properly.
The people at risk aren’t engineers who haven’t mastered using coding agents yet.
It’s people who only know how to prompt one.
