₹2.5 Lakh Compensation Disbursed in Two Hit-and-Run Cases

The District Administration, North Goa, today held a meeting on the implementation of the Compensation to Victims of Hit & Run Motor Accidents Scheme, 2022. On the occasion, District Collector, North Goa, Shri Ankit Yadav, IAS, handed over compensation cheques to the first two beneficiaries under the Scheme in North Goa — ₹2,00,000/- to the claimant of Late Vinayak V. Dhargalkar (death case) and ₹50,000/- to the relative of injured Shri Shvveer Pal (injury case).

The review meeting was attended by Additional Director of Transport Shri B. Sawant, Shri Roland Martins, Coordinator, GOACAN, and the SDMs of Bardez, Bicholim, Sattari and Pernem along with representatives of police and health department.

The meeting reviewed applications received from the five talukas. It was further decided to intensify public awareness regarding the Compensation to Victims of Hit & Run Motor Accidents Scheme, 2022, particularly during the forthcoming State Road Safety Week, to ensure that eligible victims and their families are aware of the benefits available under the Scheme.
