Because reporters are now gossip columnists, not sports reporters, AND too many people have no lives of their own... so they need something or someone to insult or minimize so they "feel" better!
Caitlin Clark is heading into Year 4 of her WNBA career, and somehow we are still having the same conversation about viewership and attendance.
Today, Christine Brennan used her platform not to talk about the players who actually performed in Game 1 of the semifinals, but to compare the attendance for Angel Reese and Atlanta’s semifinal matchup to Dream games against Indiana.
And my question is: who cares?
Atlanta is still playing in a venue that’s drawing more than three times as many fans as its postseason venue did last season. Reese doesn’t decide how many tickets are made available for sale. And Atlanta has already shown it can draw huge crowds, selling more than 17,000 tickets for games against Las Vegas and Chicago.
So Caitlin Clark leads in viewership. And?
She leads in jersey sales. And?
She draws enormous crowds. And?
And? And? And? I’m sorry, but again, who is supposed to care?
Why would anyone expect other WNBA players to generate the same numbers when no other player has received anything close to the same level of mainstream exposure and media attention?
Said it before: at some point, some of these trusted media voices stop looking like reporters covering the league and start looking like paid fans.
And the fact that this is what Caitlin Clark’s career has been reduced to is honestly such an unfortunate thing to see.
Why are we still comparing the success of Angel Reese, a National Champion and Defensive Player of the Year winner contributing to a team currently playing in the semifinals, to Caitlin Clark, whose résumé consists of first-round exits?
Both are great players.
But seriously, there doesn’t always have to be a comparison.
It probably won’t stop.
But it should.
Corrupt refs... nobody is this blind!
They even reviewed and then lied. Gray fouled Mitchell with her right hand to Mitchell's left arm clearly! And way before the ball control foul which should have ALSO been against Gray! And they reviewed it, and still?? Absolutely Corrupt!
Really sad the WNBA season is over. That was my last game for this season.
Corrupt Refs, gotta go!
Looking forward to a new commissioner. Maybe that can help this league.
See all you baller fans next season! My season ended tonight!
Anyone watching Indiana vs Washington will tell you Aliyah Boston is doing nothing out there on the floor. Playing extremely lazy, and looks to be pouting.
Why hasn’t she been benched for the game??
You evidently have no clue about ballin.
EVERYONE was cold, even Boston couldn't score, and (for the highest paid player in the W) she is underperforming game after game. Could be injury, but something is off!
When nobody is hitting you want your shooters taking the shots!
@letstalkksports Yeah? Is that why not a single player is currently in the WNBA? CC & Mitchell each took 20 shots, 40 total, out there padding their stats. I hope they lose their next 2 games, and have to face the Mystics in the playoffs. 🤣🤣🤣
🚨 SOMETHING ABOUT SOPHIE CUNNINGHAM’S ROLE IN INDIANA IS NOT ADDING UP🚨
Sophie started this season in the Fever’s starting lineup. Then she was moved to the bench for Lexie Hull.
Fine👀👀👀
But Sophie didn’t disappear after being benched — SHE PRODUCED.
By the All-Star break, Cunningham was averaging 9.4 PPG while shooting 43.7% FROM THREE and had worked herself into the Sixth Player of the Year conversation.
Now look at her minutes over her LAST FOUR games:
11:09
14:04
19:48
7:09
That’s just 13 MINUTES PER GAME.
And then Sophie goes on her podcast and publicly talks about how Indiana is still practicing for around two hours, going full court and hard this late in the season.
Now suddenly she plays SEVEN MINUTES against Washington???
Stephanie White said after the game Indiana needs to get Sophie and Lexie the ball in better positions, while also pointing to defense and rebounding as reasons Raven Johnson got more minutes.
But here’s MY OPINION👇🏽👇🏽
I’m starting to wonder whether Sophie speaking publicly about what’s happening inside that building has something to do with how short her leash has become.
I’m NOT saying I can prove that.
I’m saying the timing is interesting enough to ask the question.
Because when Sophie was getting real minutes, she showed she could produce and stretch the floor.
You cannot give somebody 7–14 minutes, barely involve them offensively, and then turn around and ask why the production disappeared.
So Fever fans…
Is Sophie Cunningham simply losing her spot in Stephanie White’s rotation — or do YOU think something else is happening behind the scenes???

We need a repeat of Vanderbilt in 2027!
Entire starting line up entered the transfer portal forcing Vanderbilt to finally respond.
But, it took 5 disastrous years for it to happen. Players finally forced their hand...
She's a problem, and history shows that!
Last night finally broke me.
When the Indiana Fever game ended, I closed the computer, made a drink and went to a James Taylor concert because I had no interest in writing the same postgame article for the twentieth time.
We already know what the problems are.
We have been writing about them all season.
The defense is structurally weak. The rotations disrupt rhythm. The hierarchy is still muddy. The offense too often depends on Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell bailing out possessions with absurd shot-making.
Last night showed exactly how fragile that model is.
Clark and Mitchell can be brilliant. They cannot be expected to perform miracles every night while the system around them remains unstable.
Indiana still has championship talent. The path is sitting directly in front of them: define Clark as the offensive leader, tighten the rotation, create a more structured offensive identity and finally install a defensive approach capable of keeping ordinary offenses from looking elite.
Or keep rolling the dice and hope Clark and Mitchell stay nuclear for three straight playoff series.
Good luck with that.
Yep, did NOT want to be drafted by Dallas... so she purposely did not declare.... Then as soon as the Minnesota miracle she declares.
Things that make you go hmmmm!
Saddest part is nobody is even attempting to stop this ignorance in the W. It just keeps going on and on.
I do believe there is a small truth to SOME "white" privilege... But get the F over it move on! Make your mark impressive.
Don't continue the same racist crybaby bullshit!
I stopped watching ESPN reporting years ago, WAY to political for my taste. Only watch games I have to with them. Its worthless for balanced reporting!
Amazing what happens once real talent leaves ESPN. Linda Cohn leaves ESPN and becomes an instant savage...giving honest opinions about the WNBA.
Perhaps this is why ESPN is reportedly unhappy with their WNBA coverage. It lacks honesty and authenticity
They weren't watching or talking WNBA ball, thats for sure. The small arenas 6 or 7k seats never came close to selling out. NOT EVEN FOR PLAYOFFS!
It took a young lady from Iowa to change all that, and some just can't stand that!
🚨 A’JA WILSON FANS, I HAVE ONE QUESTION: WHERE WERE Y’ALL⁉️⁉️⁉️
A’ja had the MVPs. Championships. Awards. Media praise.
Yet in 2023 the WNBA averaged 6,615 fans per game.
Caitlin Clark arrives in 2024: attendance +48%, ESPN viewership +170%.
And BEFORE the WNBA, Caitlin pulled 18.9 MILLION for the NCAA Championship.
So stop rewriting history🤡🤡🤡
A’JA WAS WINNING EVERYTHING AND THE MASSES STILL WEREN’T WATCHING.
Great player? Absolutely.
Worldwide box-office attraction?
THE NUMBERS ALREADY ANSWERED THAT.
Where were all these “fans” before Caitlin showed up❓🤡🤡🤡
#CaitlinClark #AjaWilson #WNBA #indianafever
Caitlin Clark has been made the face of the WNBA. She’s not the best player, not even close. She’s not physically attractive. She doesn’t have charisma. She doesn’t have a likeable personality. She’s the face nonetheless. Let her do her job! Expand the brand. No Aja needed.
Clearly this guy knows nothing about ballin, the 6th man award is something many ballers are and would be honored to carry!
Good for her, and I'm also shocked as this recognition is coach driven!
Sophie Cunningham scored 0 points in 0 minutes for Team USA's FIBA game vs. China.
Because the "superstar" / ”6th POY" wasn't good enough to make the roster. Not even as an alternate.
Thought I'd share these stats, since she wants us to talk about basketball now.
As a CC fan, you can’t celebrate her on here without someone becoming annoyed. And I’d say 7 times out of 10, the hater is black. Ima keep throwing that prejudice out there until yall get it through your heads smh
This is coming from a black man❗️❗️
🚨🚨THE WNBA MEDIA’S CAITLIN CLARK OBSESSION IS GETTING WEIRD🚨🚨
Look at this BS
These aren’t random trolls hiding behind burner accounts. These are people covering the WNBA openly salivating over the idea of Caitlin Clark getting “bodied” overseas and mocking the protections they believe she receives😡😡😡😡
Then these SAME people will climb on their soapboxes and lecture everybody about player safety, mental health, harassment, misogyny and “toxic fan culture🤯🤡🤡
SAVE THE SPEECHES. 😂
You cannot spend years normalizing hostility toward Caitlin Clark, laughing about her getting knocked around and treating physical punishment like something you’re excited to watch — then suddenly discover compassion when it involves somebody you like.
And where are Clark’s peers who constantly have something to say about toxicity?

THIS is the culture surrounding Caitlin Clark that everybody keeps pretending doesn’t exist.
Keep that same “protect the players” energy for EVERYBODY💯💯💯
Quick fact-check: Olivia Miles has not set the all-time WNBA rookie assist record.
@CaitlinClark22 still holds the record with 337 assists in 2024.
@oliviamiles06 has 228 assists through 37 games - putting her 109 assists behind Clark’s record.
She has moved into 2nd all-time among WNBA rookies in assists.
Great rookie season. Wrong record. 🤷♂️
