Dexter Resurrection S1 | E5 “Murder Horny” “After i killed him. I came home and discovered he already killed your mom. She died because of my selfishness. Because of my mistake. And it broke me.” Where other episodes felt like everything was happening in every direction, E5 feels like a calm, explorative and character driven episode and that’s what it needed. Less action and more pure conversations. Dexter & Harrison or Dexter & Mia, the majority of the episode is just them in company of each other and i love what it delivered. First of all the date side of things with Mia and slowly beginning to understand that she’s not at all the person Dexter was moved towards. Now i would’ve really liked to see Lady Vengeance turn out to be the other side of the coin compared to Dexter where they actually aligned together. But i can’t help but love the twist that Mia just does whatever she wants to satisfy the urge, not necessarily how i expected it but a story that definitely worked well. Very much enjoyed their time spent before Dex smartly took her off the board. Not to mention how absolutely fucking incredible both of the main scenes with Dexter and Harrison were. Dex being genuine about his fault in trying to mold Harrison to be just like him. And opening up about what Trinity killing Rita did to him so many years later. That specific scene is a highlight of Resurrection. I was satisfied with the fallout of S4E12 but THIS is a scene i’ve felt i needed. The truth. The guilt. Outstanding stuff. It’s definitely the weakest episode of Dexter Resurrection but it still makes me feel like we’re in the best of times. That’s how you know we got it good. Good stuff, great even. Not a single narrative complaint just a calmer episode among the bunch. Feel like what comes next is about to push things up a level.
