Zohran Mamdani chose to keep Jessica Tisch as NYPD Commissioner. This betrays his campaign promises and aligns him with the NYPD’s legacy of policing, surveillance, and repression. Join almost 100 orgs standing against this decision. Read and sign the full statement: https://t.co/cpcghFqirH
It’s becoming a familiar pattern: demands that were dismissed or ignored when we first raised them become consensus months or years later.
Glad to see so many people finally catching up to the demand to remove Jessica Tisch, nearly a year after Within Our Lifetime organized over 100 organizations to oppose her reappointment.
Better late than never, I guess.
Now that there’s growing consensus, I encourage everyone who hasn’t already to read and sign our statement, and join us in challenging the NYPD’s broader practices of racial profiling, mass surveillance, police brutality, and political repression.
Never forget who just labeled the Palestine student movement “right wing grifters” “CIA” and a “psyop” when people heard them make demands of their favorite Democrat.
@NerdeenKiswani Exactly, and he knew what he was getting himself into. He switched up real quick. If anything, it showed his true colors even more. Not the other way around.
Cities around the globe witnessed massive rallies today in solidarity with Palestine, with participants raising flags and banners demanding an end to the aggression and the pursuit of justice.
Meaningful change will come not through symbolic gestures, but through the realization of these demands. We want a New York City that stands firmly on the side of humanity and the Palestinian people. We will continue to struggle until these demands are met and Palestine is free.
Apparently, only a “sectarian sub-faction of a sub-faction” of the Palestine movement criticizes Mamdani on Palestine.
That sub-faction just happens to be virtually the entire Palestine movement in New York.
