Unpopular opinion: Pull requests are a terrible idea in almost all contexts.

Focus on finishing things as a team instead of keeping everybody busy. Do code reviews in real-time through pairing or ensembling instead of blocking the flow of work waiting for a pull request review.

Backlogs are a Scrum thing, not an Agile thing. I don't use them. So, what do I do? I have a conversation with my customers and business strategists (a true PM) and come up with a strategic goal based on customer and market needs. 1/4

@mattrickard I have a PhD where I studied pair programming in depth (both experienced and less experienced pairers). I recorded and analysed 14,866 sentences of dialogue across many different pairs in 4 different companies. None of it looked like what you describe.

Principle 1:
Brute force works early on. Then it stops working. And once it stops working, it will never work again for the remainder of your PM career.

Early on, “just work hard” is a fine recipe for being more effective as a PM.

And then..... Scope enters the picture.
