REMARKS BY HIS EXCELLENCY, PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU, GCFR, AT THE MAIDEN STATE HOUSE PRESS CORPS DINNER, STATE HOUSE, ABUJA, ON THURSDAY, 2 JULY 2026.
1/2
My attention has been drawn to some media reports following my brief appearance earlier this morning on Channels TV regarding the ongoing reforms of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), particularly on the issue of the proposed uniform.
For the avoidance of doubt, yes, I mentioned Adire during the discussion. I also mentioned Ankara. My intention was simply to cite examples of some of the proposals that have been put forward in the course of our consultations. It was not an announcement that any particular fabric has been adopted or approved to replace the current NYSC uniform.
For the record, what we are considering are different options that tick all the right boxes in terms of professional outlook, a unique national identity, durability, functionality, cost-effectiveness, and the projection of national pride. No final decision has been taken on the fabric or design.
As with every aspect of the ongoing NYSC reforms, any eventual decision will be guided by extensive stakeholder engagement and what best serves the interests of the Scheme and the nation.
I respectfully urge Nigerians to continue to engage with the ongoing NYSC reform conversation based on its broader objectives and the immense benefits it holds for our young people and our country. The reforms are designed to make the Scheme more relevant to today's realities by improving employability, promoting entrepreneurship, strengthening national integration, enhancing service delivery, and creating a smoother transition from education to productive careers.
While conversations around the uniform are understandable, they should not overshadow the far-reaching reforms aimed at empowering millions of Nigerian youths and positioning the NYSC as a stronger platform for national development.
I appreciate the constructive feedback and assure Nigerians that every proposal will continue to be carefully considered in the best interest of the nation.
.@LagosPoliceNG all your official lines that I have tried are not responsive including that of the PPRO. One of my staff was arrested at a Ball house this evening while watching football, I am here at Ogudu Police station and they are not responsive.

FUNAAB Launches Innovative WeTool App on Google Play Store to Advance Smart Agriculture
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Nigeria, has expanded its portfolio of digital innovations with the launch of WeTool (Weight Equalisation Tool), a mobile application designed to simplify weight distribution and balancing tasks for agricultural, scientific, and industrial applications. The application, developed by the University's SmartAgro Research Cluster in the College of Computing Sciences (COLCOMPS), is now available for download on the Google Play Store.
According to the Ag. Head, Directorate of Public Relations, FUNAAB, Mr. Olasunkanmi Olajide, the launch represents another milestone in the University's commitment to producing practical, technology-driven solutions that address real-world challenges through interdisciplinary research and innovation.
He explained that the application was jointly developed by the Dean of the College of Computing Sciences, Prof. Oluwasefunmi Arogundade, and Prof. Olufemi Akinola of the Department of Animal Nutrition in the College of Animal Science and Livestock Production (COLANIM). The collaboration combines expertise in computing and Animal Science to deliver a solution tailored to the needs of agriculture and related industries.
Mr. Olajide noted that WeTool is specifically designed to assist users in sorting, distributing, and equalising weights across multiple partitions with speed and accuracy. The application is expected to benefit Animal Scientists, livestock producers, farmers, laboratory personnel, technicians, researchers, and other professionals who routinely perform weight allocation and balancing operations.
He added that integrating agricultural knowledge with advanced software engineering has resulted in an application that is not only technically robust but also highly relevant to practical field operations. By simplifying complex weight distribution processes, WeTool helps users reduce errors, improve efficiency, and enhance decision-making.
The Ag. Head of Public Relations further stated that the innovation reflects FUNAAB's growing leadership in digital transformation, applied research, and technology commercialisation. He described the SmartAgro Research Cluster as a hub for developing intelligent solutions that support sustainable agriculture and national development.
Meanwhile, the launch of WeTool has further reinforced FUNAAB's reputation as one of Africa's leading universities in agricultural research and technological innovation. It also highlights the institution's commitment to fostering interdisciplinary partnerships that translate academic research into impactful products capable of creating value for agriculture, science, industry, and society.

Our Renewed Hope Education reforms are delivering measurable results.
I’m pleased to see Nigerian universities record their strongest performance yet in the 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
This year, 24 Nigerian universities were ranked globally, up from 21 in previous years, making Nigeria the most represented country in Sub Saharan Africa. Even more encouraging, 17 of those institutions are federal universities, reflecting the progress we are making in strengthening our public higher education system.
Congratulations to the University of Ibadan, the University of Lagos, Bayero University Kano, and every Nigerian university recognised in this year’s rankings. This achievement belongs to the entire higher education sector and demonstrates what is possible when institutions are committed to excellence.
These rankings are not just about prestige. They are evidence that our investments in research, innovation, digital transformation, quality assurance, infrastructure, and governance are beginning to translate into global recognition.
Even more encouraging, 27 additional Nigerian universities participated in this year’s assessment, demonstrating a growing commitment to transparency, benchmarking, and continuous improvement.
Under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, we remain committed to the Nigerian Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI), ensuring our universities produce the knowledge, innovation, and talent that will drive Nigeria’s future.
The work continues.
Year-by-Year Number of Ranked Nigerian Universities
Something happened to the ranking of our Universities Worldwide since 2023 that President Tinubu became the President...This is not just by chance...It didn't happen like this in the past.

2022: 6 universities
2023: 12 universities

The massive surge from 12 Universities in 2023 to 24 in 2026 which have more of Public Universities is a story of more attention to the Education System.....

I have today signed the NIMC Act 2026 into law.
For nearly twenty years, Nigeria’s identity system operated under a law written for a different era. That era is over.
This new Act gives our nation a modern, secure and digital identity framework fit for the Nigeria we are building, a Nigeria on the path to becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy.
Heartfelt thanks to the wonderful people I met at airports on my recent trips. So many of you said, “I don’t post much, but I read everything you share and I pray for you”, and that quiet support means more than words can say. You are the silent majority, and your encouragement strengthens me.
I won’t stop standing up for what I believe in, even when I’m the only one standing. The delays and unexpected moments on this trip made your kindness feel closer than ever. If we each act as the change we want to see, our country will be better for it in our lifetime. 🇳🇬
Recently, I noticed that I stopped creating innovation in my head. Everything has stopped working!!
I'm closing down my pig section with 54 rooms. I've stopped crossing since February and I've been looking for buyers since then.
I still have about 2 tonnes of pigs available for sale. I am not asking for much, just let me help you slaughter, process, and oven-dry them for you at a very friendly price.
Please patronize me.🙏

Did the Federal Government Policy Implementation lead to Increase in REVENUE? YES.
Did the Federal Government RELEASE Allocations to the State Governors and Local Government Areas? YES.
Did the State and Local Government Receive the Allocations from the Federal Governemnt as at when due Monthly? YES.
Can we see what these Monthly allocations are being used for at the State and LGAs?😇😇😇
That is the Conversation!
How did Ogun State do this??!! 😳
Ogun State has just secured a major agricultural investment to establish one of Nigeria’s largest dairy farms with an estimated investment of $250 million (Gadammit!).
The project is expected to increase local milk production, create jobs, and strengthen Nigeria’s agricultural value chain while reducing reliance on imported dairy products.
Remember, Nigeria produces just 700,000 tonnes of milk yearly. But our domestic consumption is 1.6 million tonnes.
This shortfall means Nigeria imports about 60% of our dairy needs. According to NBS we have ~59 million cattle but due to the pastoral way of management. They produce little milk per cattle.
In 2025 alone, Nigeria imported milk worth approximately $1.5bn - God Abeg!
The company said they chose Ogun State bcs it is investor-friendly, supportive policies, infrastructure development, and the cooperation of host communities.
See ehn... The way this country is going na Governor go determine the economic prosperity of the people. If your governor work una go see and feel am.
Now more jobs for the Ogun people, different businesses go sprint up, more value chain opportunities, IGR for the govt, bragging right for the Ogun people.
Osun no be your mate be Ogun? Please help me tap that governor that's dancing 😭😭😭
There is a confluence between organized crime and a budding insurgency in the SW. A symbiosis of organized Crime (Narcotics/illegal organ harvesting masked as ritual killings/human trafficking/yahoo) and a prospective insurgency, should be a source of worry for all of us.
Dear University of Ibadan (@UniIbadan), I hope this message meets you well. I have a relative who scored 289 in JAMB and already passed GCE Maths, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Further Maths, etc.
I am a bit concerned, because we have struggled to find details of your cut off marks for MBBS on your website or any reliable platform. Could you make this information public please? Many thanks.
Dear Honourable Minister @DrTunjiAlausa, well done for all the excellent reforms in the last 2 years. It would be great if you are able to mandate all Universities to make their cut off marks public as done in other progressive countries. This will improve clarity and reduce corruption in the admission process. Many thanks sir! CC @NigEducation.
I've noticed something interesting.
When a video of Police misconduct is released, it spreads rapidly and receives widespread attention. However, when an officer is dismissed for misconduct, a kidnapped victim returns safely, or stolen goods are recovered, these positive outcomes often receive little notice.
Bad news spreads quickly because it aligns with existing expectations and requires little reflection. Good news, however, challenges us to reconsider our views, which can be uncomfortable even when supported by clear evidence.
We're not asking for blind praise. Hold us accountable for our failures, always. But hold us accountable for the good as honestly as you hold us accountable for the bad.
If only negative incidents are highlighted, positive achievements may not be trusted. When you encounter stories of justice served, victims rescued, or criminal networks dismantled, consider sharing those as well.
Tbh, striving for balance is not bias; it is fairness.
I salute all of us oh…. 👇🏾
