I am proud to work in a district that recognizes the importance of equity and diversity. I am thankful to have the opportunity to participate in trainings that force me to take inventory of myself and take charge of making a difference for students.

Learning to be a virtual teacher is one thing. Learning to do this in a pandemic is a whole new ballgame. One thing I always prep every year is a guide for transfer families. It may look different, but l lean on my survival guide every year to save myself from endless questions!

I made a spreadsheet that I track my students daily lessons and assignments with. I put in formulas to have it auto-generate totals, color coded those totals to show me where concerns are, and then also put those totals in a weekly individual student report. I love spreadsheets.

Tomorrow starts my first round of virtual parent teacher conferences. Yet another new experience for 2020!

Praying for the thousands and thousands of educators starting school this week...with continued prayers for those already in the trenches. Heart-wrenching reading the news of schools already closing, and so concerned for the mental health of our parents, students and staff.

Just had lunch with my parents. We sat 6 feet apart from each other the entire time and I couldn’t hug them goodbye, but those weekly meals we had before quarantine are sorely missed. What a simple pleasure ❤️

The tassel is not worth the hassle! I know students want to graduate, & they are the least at risk, but we need to protect their family! Think about their newborn family members, those that are pregnant, their grandparents, parents, siblings. Graduations could be dangerous!

I love the districts who are putting teachers first. They are not micromanaging them. Trusting them to reach out to their students & letting them take care of their own families first & checking in on their health. These districts rock & your teachers love you for it & so do I!
