BREAKING: Iran reveals US Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a classified directive on June 26 to all US embassies worldwide to pressure countries against attending Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's funeral, warning participation would be considered "an unfriendly act by the United States" with "negative consequences for bilateral relations," per a senior Iranian offical to Tasnim.
US ambassadors in Africa threatened to cut all development aid to countries participating, with Rubio personally calling counterparts in at least five Arab countries.
At least 13 countries have declined to attend due to US pressure, including three Eastern European, five African, two Gulf Arab, and two major East Asian countries.
In the latest episode of @ideasofindia@Mercatus, I spoke with @rahulsagar about his new book 'The Birth of Indian Liberalism', the forgotten nineteenth-century thinker Mama Parmanand, why it is the first work of Indian political theory, liberalism in British India and the princely states, religion as a moral resource, the roots of Hindu nationalism, and much more.

The most disturbing thing that’s happening is people whose names have been cut off from voter lists are being cut off from all welfare schemes. It’s being done in Bengal and will be followed by BJP regimes in Hindi belt. It has serious ramifications for many poor families besides Muslims. It’s not a communal war but a class/caste issue at many levels. And it’s not a war to begin with when the state and actors backed by it target minorities and socially/economic sections of society. Please be aware that discrimination just climbed another notch.

Hindutva proponents have no problem if India does not achieve the basic level of industrialization & urbanization required for a decent modern existence. Its okay if most people remain stuck on dwindling unproductive farms or are pushed to slave away in service-sector gig work.

Essentially nothing, which goves the government the full discretion to decide who is an Indian citizen and who is not. That is how it is being envisaged now.
The AIIMS Delhi exodus: Why top faculty & HODs are leaving India’s most prestigious medical institution.
Cardiac surgeries were cancelled five to six days every month, and patients, including small children, were moved to waiting lists extending up to 15 months, said Dr Hote, who joined AIIMS as a student in 1999.
“About five percent of patients on the waiting list died before their surgery date… including small children. It was not just frustrating. It was causing me guilt,” Dr Hote told ThePrint.
