Something that I'm having to keep in mind as an education student, it's been real eye opening during this pandemic where everything is online. #READ3400#GGCSOE
In AWAKENING THE HEART, @GeorgiaHeard1 writes, “Children [do this] for adults all the time; they help us to see the beauty in things we no longer see, that have been obscured by a film of familiarity” (92). I’m going to start looking up a little more. And looking in. For beauty.
My favorite thing as a child was being read to, and I think that it's important as a teacher to try and do read-alouds in my own classroom #EDUC3400#GGCSOE
Reading aloud to kids never gets old. I wonder how many millions of people fell in love with reading listening to their teacher/parent/grandparent/librarian/friend/sibling/guardian read to them.
You have to make sure that students are getting enough reading time, it helps to make sure that you are showing and not just telling them that reading is an important part of their education and to help them practice as much as possible. #READ3400#GGCSOE
This really resonates with me and what I saw last semester in the middle school, if you don't listen to your students then you'll miss out on all the things that you could learn from them #READ3400#GGCSOE
Such a great read from @regieroutman ‘s Literacy Essentials: Engagement, Excellence and Equity for All Learners - “listening fully is an act of respect, admiration, and even love” 👏🏻
When communicating progress with parents/caregivers, show (without emphasizing levels) the books the child started with, what they are reading now, and what you hope for them to be reading in the future. Then you can work together to make sure the child can move forward.
