Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Uganda must stop torturing his political rival Dr Kizze Besigye whom he has wrongly incarcerated for over a year now for doing nothing but exercising his democratic right to challenge him politically. Detaining Besigye even as his health deteriorates has given a peek to the world into Uganda's gross human rights violations as it epitomises the dictatorship's abuses of the political rights of the citizens over the years, something the world is called to dismantle.

UTU Heritage has partnered with Kangubiri Girls High School in Nyeri County — home to the historic Aguthi Works Camp, a colonial-era Mau Mau detention site. Together, they're working to protect, document, and share this vital piece of our past, so future generations can learn from the sacrifices made in our nation's fight for freedom.

Our heritage isn't just history. It's who we are, what we remember, and what we owe to those who came before us.

Let's make sure these stories and these places aren't forgotten.
